No one hurt Made Nov 22, 2011, sent to the company May 21, 2012, published by CPSC Dec 15, 2011
The product, in the report: GE Rotisserie Convection Oven Model: 898691 53
Item: GE Rotisserie Convection Oven Model: 898691 53 UPC: 60538898691 Purchased: Wal Mart Kansas City, MO 64145 DOP: 11/05/2011
Used four time for toast only. Unit was plugged in and had not been in use for a minimum of 72 hours. Loud noise coming from the glass door of the unit exploding. Sending glass in small particles in the air throughout the kitchen. Blew handle off the glass door. No one injured. No heat associated with the unit at time of explosion. Electrical cord and unit not hot or warm to the touch.
If a child was present, they would have been harmed by the flying glass. Informed Wal-Mart through their [REDACTED] number and email. Was told to return unit for store credit or another unit. Doesn’t anyone have concerns as to why this happened? I do am following through with this until someone from the manufacturer would like the product back.
