No incident, no one hurt Made Apr 22, 2026, sent to the company Apr 27, 2026, published by CPSC May 11, 2026
The product, in the report: “Elite Gourmet” double door toaster oven
The problem is with an “Elite Gourmet” toaster oven manufactured by MAXI-MATIC, USA, [REDACTED] City of Industry, CA 91748 The oven emits electricity through its external surfaces. My mother was using the oven and at some point noticed that it was “buzzing” her hand when she touched it. When I visited my mother, I tested the oven with a multi-meter and detected that the oven emitted ~84 Volts of electricity through its external and internal surfaces exposed to the user. Since the oven was within the warranty period, I contacted the Maxi-Matic customer service and they told me to cut the cord from this oven and they would send my mother a replacement. They did send it and my mother started to use the new oven. At some point my mother noticed burning smell when the oven was in operation. I visited her again and tested the oven with a multi-meter. The replacement unit also emitted 59 Volts on the external surfaces. I contacted the manufacturer again. They said that it appeared to be an isolated case and again agreed to replace the oven. This time, when the latest replacement arrived, I tested it right out of the box and again the latest replacement emitted ~57 Volts on exposed surfaces of the oven. I contacted the manufacturer again suggesting that this appeared to be a specific design or manufacturing issue with this line of ovens. After multiple email and phone communications with the Customer Support, the company seems to be ignoring all my inquiries.

The product, in the report: Elite Gourmet ETO-4510M
I purchased the Elite Gourmet ETO-4510M through Amazon. I was using the product and it would not turn off when it was supposed to. After I managed to get it off, it turned back on. I had to unplug it. There are multiple reviews of other consumers having the same problem including the cord sparking and smoke coming from the outlet.
