  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jun 24, 2017, sent to the company Jul 3, 2017, published by CPSC Jul 18, 2017

The product, in the report: Toaster Oven Broiler

Turned on the toaster oven function with a setting of 450 degree Celsius. Opened the door and removed the metal rack in the middle position. Then, while moving the metal tray from the bottom position to the middle position with my left hand, I experienced a large electric shock that went all the way up my left arm. I turned on the oven function and measured the voltage to ground potential the metal surfaces (inside and outside) of the oven with a voltmeter and the initial reading was approximately 32V~, but as the oven warmed up, the voltage increased to approximately 80V~. This is an ETL listed product (listing number 3154152).

The product, in the report: CUISINART Custom Classic Toaster Oven Broiler W 15” 4/5 x D 12” x H 9” Black and Stainless Steel

I purchased a toaster oven broiler. I set the temperature on 350 degrees. I noticed smell as if it was really hot so I turned it down to 250 degrees. I was warming biscuits. I was sliding the oven further back on the table. I placed one hand on the back and the other on the top of the oven. My fingers were burned. The feel and appearance of my fingers changed. My fingers had a smooth look where they touched the oven. This was not just a warm oven but hot enough to cause serious burns. I contacted the company who told me there was nothing they could do about it. Also said toaster ovens get very hot be cause they are not insulated. They said that this information came with the product. I asked if it was written on the box. She said if not then it is in the manual (THE MANUAL THAT I CAN”T SEE UNTIL AFTER I PURCHASE PRODUCT). The info was not on the box but in the manual, pg 5 2nd paragraph. If this info is put on the box, many would not buy it. I contacted CUISINART January 3, 2013.
