The product, in the report: It was a white, Chef Mate toaster oven. Four toast capacity. Dimensions: approx 12 length by 7 height.
While trying to toast a matzoh, the appliance burst into flames. The flames were almost two feet high. It was terrifying. Thankfully, I was quick thinking and able to put the fire out without injury to myself or my pets. My other family members were not home at the time of this incident

Chefmate Toaster Oven, Model # T0-09.
This is definintely a fire hazard. The main problem is the uneven temperature of the appliance, which causes bread to burn. I put some bread in it today, and while waiting, saw SMOKE pouring out the toaster-oven. I was confused, since the front of the bread looked untoasted. What was the source of the smoke? I turn it off, take out the bread (by using a fork to pull out the wire rack--otherwise I’d burn myself reaching in--terrible design) and notice that the back half of the bread is completely charred. Note, that the toaster was on “light” toast setting. If I hadn’t removed the bread, it would have caught fire.
Terrible product. I can only imagine what would happen if someone left the toast unattended and it caught fire. I strongly feel this deserves a recall.
