The Tribest Personal Blender Mason Jar Attachment allows you to blend, serve, and store your favorite recipes in the same glass mason jar. The Mason Jar Attachment connects the Personal Blender blade assemblies with most regular-mouth mason jars, so the upgrade possibilities for your Personal Blender are virually limitless. Mason Jar attachment is compatible with regular mouth [REDACTED] or [REDACTED] brand mason jars only. BLENDER: http://personalblender.com/main.asp
I am writing about horrible safety negligence in the design of a product that injured my boyfriend last night. He is in extreme pain due to a mangled hand, and cannot type due to his injury, and asked me to write on his behalf.
I bought a personal smoothie blender called “Tribest” found online at www.personalblender.com, the one that came with the mason jar attachment (very important). My boyfriend was assembling the pieces yesterday while I was at work, and the blade started spinning as he fit the blade into the base. The instructions said to plug the blender in and put the blade into the base, on the first page of the manual!! The blades stuck out about an inch above the well that houses it, and spun at a very high speed (it is designed to also grind coffee and chop nuts), cutting deeply into his right hand and forefinger. The blade was activated because he had placed the mason jar attachment, which fit into the tab that turns the machine on perfectly. He went to the ER and had over 20 stitches and an arterial vein cauterization.
We do not know yet the extent of his injuries, but the doctor said that he would likely have nerve damage and loss of feeling in his index finger. He was trying to assemble the unit, and the first page of Safety Guidelines in manual reads to plug unit in first, but once you see the device, you can see how easily it is to chop your hand up with the blades, and that there is a lack of a safety mechanism. In other words, he simply assembled the parts that went with the blender into the holes they fit into, and the blade started going with nothing inbetween his hand and the very fast blades!!
We would also like to make an impression on Tribest to add safety features to their products to ensure no one else is hurt in this situation.
