Emergency room Made Mar 22, 2013, sent to the company Apr 1, 2013, published by CPSC Apr 22, 2013
The product, in the report: Immersible Blender The model number is CSB-76 and the Serial # is 20921C
I was cleaning out the base of the smart stick with my left hand and held the top portion of the stick with my right which turned the blender on while my finger was in the blade. I immediately went to the Emergency Room where I was told they were not sure there was enough to my finger let to put back together. They were able to place 13 sutures and I sustained an open fracture. I have had multiple ER, MD and physical therapy appointments. I now have vascular (venous) congestion where my finger turns blue if it is not in the upright position. I was told it will be up to a year to determine if I will regain feeling as there was also a severe crush injury (nerve injury). If I was able to sustain this injury, imagine if a child got a hold of a smart stick while someone was not looking. I notified Cuisinart who sent me a letter stating in the manual it states you should unplug the device.
