The product, in the report: Ninja Auto IQ Nutri Blender Pro, black, 18-20 inches tall, 8 inches wide
I reported that I purchased the Ninja Auto IQ Nutri Blender Pro on August 19th from Kohl’s (receipt attached). I used the blender once about ten days later and then not again after. At that time, when I made two smoothies, I noticed a burning smell but I thought that it was because the blender was new. I read the manual before I used the blender and followed instructions. I placed the Ninja on my counter where it was not near any other small appliances or anything electrical. I also do not keep any kitchen appliances plugged in when it is not in use. On September 10th, the Ninja combusted by itself without any source of power or anything flammable near it. It was not powered on, and no one was even in the kitchen when the Ninja started to combust. It burst into flames at which time my daughter put on oven mitts, picked up the Ninja, tossed it on a metal grill on top of our stove, and then threw it outside. That combustion ruined part of our counter, singed the immediate surrounding area, and blackened our kitchen ceiling. Thankfully we were home mid-afternoon! I can’t even imagine what this combustion could have caused had we not been home. It could have very well burned our house down. Needless to say, I needed to report this and request you to investigate this product. The burnt remains are still stuck on the metal grill, melted on it. You can certainly take it, if needed.

First aid Made Jan 18, 2026, sent to the company Jan 21, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2026
The product, in the report: Ninja Blender Series
Product description
Personal blender with removable blade assembly. Blade does not lock or secure properly into the container.
What happened
On first use immediately after unboxing, while demonstrating pouring contents out of the container, the blade assembly unexpectedly detached and fell out.
Injury description
The blade fell onto my upper leg, causing a deep laceration with heavy bleeding. The injury required immediate self-care to stop bleeding. No misuse occurred.
Additional incident (important)
After the initial injury, the blade assembly detached again during a later pour, spilling contents and confirming the defect was repeatable.
Why its dangerous
A blade that can detach under gravity during normal pouring presents a serious laceration and life-threatening bleeding risk. This product should not be sold in its current design.
Outcome
Product has been discarded due to safety risk.
An earlier incident occurred on a prior date that I cannot recall, during which the same blade detachment caused injury. The date provided reflects the second occurrence.

No one hurt Made Sep 28, 2025, sent to the company Oct 1, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2025
The product, in the report: The product is a Ninja Professional Blender purchased from Costco approximately [30 days before the incident]. It is a countertop kitchen blender with a large clear plastic pitcher (approximately 72 oz capacity), black base housing with electronic controls, and a removable stacked blade assembly. The unit is designed for making smoothies, crushing ice, and blending fruit or vegetables. The blender came with a black plastic lid with a pour spout and locking mechanism. The blade assembly is a vertical multi-blade shaft that fits inside the pitcher. The base is rectangular, black in color, with Ninja branding in silver on the front. The blender was sold in Costco’s kitchen appliance section as a standard household blender intended for daily consumer use.
While making a small fruit smoothie in a Ninja blender purchased from Costco, the product violently failed during normal use. The blade assembly suddenly ejected from the container with explosive force. The loud noise was so strong that it caused ear pain, and the smoothie contents sprayed across the kitchen, covering walls, counters, and floors.
The blender was being used properly with fruit, ice, and liquid, nothing unusual or outside of normal use. In fact, I have blended much harsher items in the past (such as frozen bananas) without issue, so there is no reason this smoothie should have caused such a catastrophic failure. The unit was operated by an adult following normal instructions.
The flying blade scratched my kitchen floors, and the splattered contents permanently stained my walls and wood surfaces, leaving damage that will require resurfacing and repainting.
Although I was fortunate not to be physically struck, the blade assembly launched out at high speed directly toward the area where I was standing. It could easily have cut my hands, face, or even my neck and caused life-threatening injury. The sudden blast was loud enough to cause temporary ear discomfort. The incident created significant property damage and could have easily resulted in hospitalization or worse had the blade struck me.
The product has since been returned to Costco, which issued a refund and documented the incident, but this dangerous malfunction needs to be formally reported for consumer safety.

The product, in the report: Ninja Blast Portable Blender
This is what I have typed up to email to attorneys. Can you tell me if this is good or not? On Tuesday evening, my 10-year-old nonverbal son with Down Syndrome and Autism nearly severed his fingers with a Ninja Blast portable blender. I had bought it a year ago to make smoothies for my mother after her stroke, but she passed away before I had a chance to even use it. My kitchen is under renovation, so my appliances are all out of their normal place. This blender hasn’t been out of the cabinet in a year, so when my son saw it, I assume it caught his interest, being new to him. I was preparing his evening medication with him standing beside me, and within an instant, he had picked up the blender and simultaneously turned on the blades with his hand inside. It happened so fast I couldn’t even register what was happening. To my knowledge, it hadn’t even been charged in the past year as it has been stored away in the cabinet. It did not have the lid on, so I also did not understand how the motor could turn on. Seven extremely traumatic hours later, two ER sedations and stitches, I arrived back home at 3am and crawled into bed to try to make sense of what happened. In my research, I discovered that this particular model lacks a safety latch to prevent the blades from turning on when the lid is open. Every blender and Ninja I have ever owned did. I am absolutely devastated that this happened to my son. He has endured so much in his life...being born with Down Syndrome and a heart condition, being adopted from China at 3, heart repair resulting in pulmonary hypertension at 4, epilepsy, leukemia at 7, which he fought bravely and is now in remission. He already has so much medical trauma that it is almost impossible to even succeed at basic well-child care for him. This should have never happened.

The product, in the report: Ninja Blender professional 1000W BL610 30 120V- 60 Hz 1000W
Ninja Professional 1000W bender exploded when making a smoothie with Milk and Frozen fruit. My 14yo daughter was running the unit. It was being used on the counter. She was luckily standing off to the side, as the flying metal ( one blade from the shaft) and a large plastic shard (approx 2.5 in x 1.5) from the side of the container were found across the room. Had she been standing different she would have been impaled.

The product, in the report: Ninja Slushie frozen drink and milkshake maker. It is an 88oz capacity. It is 17”x13”x6” in dimension. it is a consumer countertop appliance. As per the manufacturer - Ninja SLUSHI, a high-performance slush machine that requires no ice! With five preset settings, you can customize the thickness and texture of your drink, from light and sippable to thick and spoon-worthy. Cleanup is effortless with dishwasher-safe parts and a built-in rinse cycle. Elevate your refreshment game with the ultimate frozen drink maker!
I discovered mold growing in a seam of a frozen drink machine I purchased. The mold grows due to a design flaw in the tank which traps any liquid. According to the manufacturer, Ninja, this machine is approved for use of milk products as well. Bacteria and mold grows in the seams of the tank. Cleaning is not possible by the way it is designed and built. This is a serious health concern. The machine is made by Ninja. The machine is the Ninja Slushie model FS301. I have called Ninja customer service and they do not consider it to be a warranty issue. They will not sell a replacement. They take no responsibility for the flaw. This is a health issue and risk of serious injury could occur. Please do something to help us consumers as the company, Ninja is refusing to do do anything to correct the problem or compensate those affected.

I purchased a Ninja Slushi machine in August 2024 and have used it approximately 10 times over five months. After each use, I have cleaned the machine thoroughly using multiple methods, including:
Running it through the dishwasher, Soaking it with vinegar and dish soap, and Using a sink hose and [REDACTED] to reach difficult areas.
Despite these efforts, mold and bacteria persistently grow inside the back of the vessel, a critical area that interacts with drinks. This defect poses a significant health hazard as the contaminated liquid is ingested by consumers.
I am allergic to mold, and this design flaw has placed my health at risk. The inability to clean this area effectively makes the product unsafe for its intended use.
Steps Taken to Resolve the Issue: I contacted Ninja Kitchen customer support and was informed this issue was due to “normal wear and tear.” However, this explanation ignores the apparent design flaw that prevents proper cleaning of the product.
Harm or Potential Harm: While I have not yet experienced severe health issues, ingesting mold and bacteria could lead to serious harm, especially for individuals like me with mold allergies.
Requested Resolution: I believe this product needs a redesign to ensure it can be cleaned effectively and safely. I also recommend the company issue warnings to consumers and consider a recall if this defect is widespread (which is seems like it is, just look it up on [REDACTED].. vessel bacteria / mold ninja slushi). I’m not the only one with this issue.

The product, in the report: Ninja Smoothie IQ blender
First time using a new blender (Ninja Smoothie IQ blender) and during cleanup, I placed the plastic carafe, lid and blade stack in soapy water. Reached into the water to grab a piece to hand clean and instantly received a laceration to my right middle finger. it was severe enough that I had to get medical attention and stitches. Looking at the blades upon returning home, determined they were very sharp - especially compared to the blades on a 35-year old [REDACTED] blender that it replaced. Not sure that these blades - that are not attached to any structure of the blender are safe for use by the public. Handling these blades to wash them - can and will cause further lacerations. I plan on returning this blender to the retailer (Costco) since i do not feel safe around this product.

The product, in the report: Ninja Blast Blender, Black, Model #BC151
The charging port and the USB-C charging cord (original cord provided) of my Ninja Blast Blender model BC151BK burned/melted while charging my blender. I had used the provided USB-C, plugged into a block, it can take 2 hours to charge so I plugged it in as I left for work. When I returned there was black charred pieces on the counter, flame burns at the USB-C port and the charging cord itself was melted down approximately 1/4 inch. Thankfully it stopped there, and it was on a solid counter and the various mail, recipe cards were about 5 inches away. There is no doubt my house would have burned down.

The product, in the report: Ninja Foodi Smoothie Bowl Maker and Nutrient Extractor* 1200WP 4 Auto-iQ
The blender does not include any directions whatsoever on cleaning the rubber gasket around the blade. I have been following all the directions in the manual and couldnt understand why an awful smell was coming from the blade. After searching online I found that people are having to use crochet hooks to remove the gasket to clean them. Mine is covered in mold and has to be thrown away. Ninjas solution is for consumers to purchase a whole new blade that will include a new gasket at a total cost of almost half the blender as its not covered under warranty even though this is a defect in design. Directions need to be included on how this should be cleaned after every use and a tool should be provided in the box to do so. This is a serious health hazard. Third party companies are having to step in to help consumers solve this problem in order to keep their unit working in a healthy manner. If this unit was used in a commercial setting without being cleaned properly I can only imagine the problems it would cause.

I discovered chips missing on the inside of the smoothie blender cup while hand washing the cup. Hi, I purchased a ninja blender / smoothie maker and after using it a few times i was washing the PLASTIC smoothie cup and noticed there were chips missing on the ribs in the inside of the blender cup. I guess the frozen fruit i use to make smoothies with is causing the cup to chip and it appears i have been drinking chips of plastic in my smoothies . i feel this should be investigated as it poses a threat to your health from ingesting plastic particles as plastic is harmful to your health if ingested. the blender is a ninja IQ blender /smoothie maker .

The product, in the report: NINJA FOODI POWER BLENDER PROCESSOR SYSTEM C0351B SERIES
Ninja Foodi Power Blender Processor System CO351B: Upon taking the blender blades out of the box I cut my finger, which alerted me how sharp the blades are - I have never ever cut my finger on a knife so easily. Today I reached for a cup in my dish drainer and my knuckle hit the blade causing a laceration that probably needs stitches. Because I am currently without insurance - I just finished a bootcamp and am seeking full-time work - I am going to try treating the cut without seeing a physician. These blades need to NOT be removable from the blender - they are unsafe to have outside of it. I get that the instructions warn about the sharpness of these blades, but that is not enough. These blades are way too sharp to be handled safely. With a knife there is a handle and only only one side is sharp, with these blades, one careless move and you end up slicing your finger open. I have packed up the blender and will be returning it to Costco ASAP.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jul 24, 2021, sent to the company Jul 27, 2021, published by CPSC Aug 10, 2021
The product, in the report: Ninja Professional Blender 1000Watt This is a blender, common to the household. It is the 1000 Watt, Ninja Professional Blender, black plastic housing, clear transparent pitcher having black decal push buttons with silvery reflective borders. This blender, fully assembled, is roughly 17.25 in. tall, 7.25 in. wide, 9 in. deep. Model BL710WM
I am recommending that the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 (part no. BL710WM) blender be recalled. The design of this kitchen blender includes a free-floating blade assembly that falls out of the pitcher when the operator attempts to pour out the blended contents. For example, suppose the operator finishes blending a batch of salsa. He then attempts to pour the salsa into a bowl when suddenly the blade assembly comes tumbling out of the pitcher and lands in the bowl. Incidentally, the man is holding the bowl with his hand and the blade assembly slices open his thumb. This very incident happened to me today (7-23-2021) while preparing a meal at home as I usually do on a routine basis.
In the user’s manual for this unit, there is statement #42 of page 3 that warns of this very accident, and advises to remove the blade assembly before emptying the pitcher’s contents or you could receive a laceration. But they don’t tell you it is because the blade assembly will fall out and hit your hand or other part of your body.
The concept of having a floating/detached blade assembly is non-intuitive to the operator that will cause many accidents over time and it is a design flaw on the basis of safety of operation.

Emergency room Made Jul 14, 2021, sent to the company Jul 15, 2021, published by CPSC Jul 29, 2021
The product, in the report: Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System. It is black/silver in color and has typical dimensions for a home blender. Model CO351B UPC 1121
I purchased this Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System on 5/28/21 and was injured the second time I used it on 6/2/21 while making a smoothie. After removing the lid and while pouring, the razor-sharp blade assembly suddenly fell out of the pitcher and struck my right wrist, resulting in a deep cut needing three stitches. I have a video showing how the blades fall out and razor-sharp the blades are, as well as pictures of my injury. I was extremely fortunate that the blades did not hit a blood vessel/tendon/ligament and cause more serious injury.
The design of this blender is absolutely terrible and a hazardous danger to users. Every other blender I’ve used has blades that do not fall out and are part of the pitcher. With this design, if you are pouring a thicker mixture (like a smoothie), you must reach into the pitcher with your hand to remove the blade assembly, causing a mess to your hand and contaminating the mixture in the process. Otherwise, the razor-sharp blade assembly will fall out while pouring and cause an injury. Your other option is to open the tiny spout on the lid, which does not pour out thick contents easily at all.
After getting hurt, I was initially shocked why the manufacturer wouldn’t have warnings to prevent this injury. The fact that I had to carefully look for such warnings and instructions makes them defective.
The two warnings I could find were on the pitcher lid and the “Quick Start” instructions (I have pictures upon request).
Its lid warning fails to comply with best standard warning practices and ANSI Z535 by failing to mention the specific consequences that result from exposure to the danger. Here, the warning only reads in incredibly small print buried among other instructions, “CAREFULLY REMOVE STACKED BLADE ASSEMBLY BEFORE POURING”. A proper warning must explain the consequences and use design elements (such as bold print, contrasting colors, borders and underscoring for emphasis, or easily understandable pictures/symbols), for example, “BLADE ASSEMBLY WILL FALL OUT IF POURING WHILE LID IS REMOVED.” Not mentioning the consequences and hiding the instruction in a sea of small print is like saying, “Do not eat this” in tiny letters – it fails to explain what will happen if you DO eat the item.
The “Quick Start” instructions are equally defective by putting its warning (which – unlike the lid warning – correctly states what the consequence is of failing to remove the blades while pouring without a lid) at the bottom of the page in even smaller print (see picture), FAR away from the main instructions for the blender. The manufacturer should have used ANSI-required “embedded” warnings that are placed closely to the applicable instruction so that users immediately understand the danger associated with a particular step.
Here, the instruction should have read (new language in ALL CAPS):
. . . 2. Fill pitcher with desired ingredients. Install the lid, then lower lid handle to lock in place. WARNING: LOCKING THE LID IN PLACE ALSO LOCKS THE BLADES IN PLACE. UNLOCKING AND REMOVING THE LID ALSO UNLOCKS THE BLADES, WHICH MAY FALL OUT IF THE PITCHER IS TILTED TO POUR OUT A MIXTURE.
Even if an owner of the blender is fortunate enough to find, read and understand either the lid warning or the “Quick Start” instructions, the reality is that other casual users (such as guests or other family members) likely will neither see the incredibly small-printed defective warning on the lid or have the “Quick Start” instructions available to them. The blender is therefore a hazard to both the party guest who makes a thick, slushy-type margarita, and takes off the lid to pour it out, and the visiting family member casually doing the dishes and washing the blender – both may be seriously injured by falling blades pouring out that margarita or water used to rinse the pitcher without the lid attached and blades removed.
THE MANUFACTURER HAS FAILED IN ITS DUTY TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT, NECESSITATING ME TO DO IT.
Report Update - 7/28/21
The defectiveness of the warnings and design accompanying the Ninja Foodi blender on which I was injured is established by the warnings that I believe were approved by the CPSC in connection with the Ninja BL660 series blender recall, which design is identical in terms of the removable stacked blade design.
In short, despite knowing precisely what warning would be sufficient to users of the Foodi blender by way of the BL660 series recall, SharkNinja proceeded to use different and defective warnings.
Attached are the warnings accompanying both the BL660 and the Foodi, and they are strikingly different, with the BL660 warning addressing several of the concerns noted in my report to the CPSC, including: • ANSI Embedded Warnings: The BL660 warning has the warning language right after the appropriate instruction, whereas the Foodi warning has the warning language at the bottom of the page in smaller font away from the relevant instruction. • Pictograms: The BL660 warning has pictograms showing exactly what should be done, whereas the Foodi warning does not. • Separate Pamphlet: The BL660 blade warning was a separate pamphlet, calling more attention to the danger. The Foodi warning again is all but buried and hidden at the bottom of a “QuickStart” pamphlet. If I had received a separate pamphlet, I more likely would have seen the warning and appreciated the risk. Based on the above drastic differences in warnings, I strongly believe the CPSC should find Ninja’s Foodi blender current warnings defective and deficient and order a new recall mandating inclusion of the “Stacked Blade Assembly” warnings that accompanied the BL660 series blenders. The current warning on the Foodi blender is not embedded, located at the bottom of the page in smaller font, contains no pictograms, and does not adequately instruct users of the dangers of the defective stacked blade assembly design.

The product, in the report: Ninja Food Chopper / Blender Model QB1004-30 This is a small counter top food chopper/blender with double rotating blades. It is called a Ninja Master Prep Professional. It has a removable motor unit that fits on top of a clear plastic base container. The motor drives double serrated blades that are mounted between the motor and the container base. We have had TWO base containers crack since we purchased the blender new.
My wife uses a Ninja Master Prep Professional small food chopper/blender in our household kitchen. After grating some Parmesan cheese cubes we noticed the base of the blender container had fractured around a metal pin that supports the spinning blades. The pin was still intact, but there were hair line star shaped fractures around it. It looked unsafe, especially if the pin came out or moved during the time when the blades were spinning. That could cause the blades to strike the sidewall of the container and cause damage to it, possibly injuring the person operating the blender. This is the SECOND container that has fractured since we bought the unit new.

The product, in the report: Ninja Foodi 64 oz Hot & Cold Blender with 1.4 kW motor & glass pitcher
. I purchased a Ninja Foodi 64 oz blender [Model No HB152] and used it for ~6 months until the glass pitcher exploded in my face on 10/10/20. At the time of the incident, the blender was about 1/3 full & contained cold liquids, ice cream, chocolate chips & ice. This blender has a powerful 1400 W motor, but does not have speed variability finer than low, medium & high. Because of this lack of speed variability, the blender delivers its full force to the blades as soon as its turned on, and that force can be transferred to the contents inside. I was unfortunate to discover this when an averaged-sized ice cube was accelerated into the thick glass pitcher with so much force that it exploded. I was hit with glass in the chest, and glass shards & milkshake continued to fly all over the kitchen (the blades continued to spin until I unplugged it). I am so so thankful that I didn’t lose my eyesight. A well-meaning customer service rep today told me that I was not eligible for a refund, & if I paid for shipping I could receive a replacement of the same model.

After I removed the blender from the packaging I turned the product over which resulted in something falling out (I did not know the blades were inside the blender). I instinctively reached to grab the item not realizing it was the blades that were falling out.
This resulted in a gash on my hand which required a visit to the emergency room and five stitches. The blades need some type of protective materials on them to prevent accidental trauma.

The contents of the blender started dispersing from the blender, she stated that she thought that the spout was not fitted right but then she noticed a hole in the middle (side) of the blender, where the plastic was missing.
The manufacturer was contacted and she was offered a replacement, caller declined because she feels that the product is a safety hazard and should be reported.

The product, in the report: Ninja Professional Blender 1000 - BL610
I used Ninja Professional blender 1000 to make a smoothie. When I poured the liquid out after blending, the blades simply fell out and cut through my hand, leaving a very deep and bloody wound. It would have cut my foot as well if I didn’t move fast enough. The sharp blades are not anchored to anything and are simply sitting on top of the spinning axis. This is a complete safety hazard and I’m sure I’m not the first one who got injured. This product should never make it to the market.

I have owned a Nutri-Ninja blender for three years. it is the type that has a blade assembly that “screws on” to the top of the cup you drink out of. I’ve been meticulous about washing it really well after each use. It goes in the dishwasher each time and I also wipe it with a rag. About a month ago, I started noticing some black flakes in my smoothies. At first I thought it was the fruit I was using. But, then I noticed that the black flakes were consistent, regardless of the fruit I was using. I washed the blade assembly very thoroughly and put it through the dishwasher multiple times. It turns out the black flakes were mold growing inside the assembly of the blades! There is a rubber gasket that’s about a half-inch wide that’s shoved deep inside the blade assembly. Moisture gets inside this area and mold has been growing! (It doesn’t look like I can upload a photo, but, I have a picture of this, it’s super gross!) I had no idea that this was supposed to come apart. There was nothing in the manual which says to wash this gasket. And, it took me using two screwdrivers in my workshop to pry that thing out, so, it’s not something that an average person can easily fix. Shark Ninja Inc should be forced to recall these blenders or offer a new design on the blade/top of the cups so that people can actually clean these. At the very least, there should be a warning in the manual with instructions on how to clean this obscure part of the product. This poses a health risk. Both my nine-year-old daughter and I drank smoothie after smoothie filled with mold as a result of this poor design. Something should be done.

Ninja blenders should not be allowed in any store or for any consumer to buy them. They are extremely dangerous. Last Sunday I got four stitches in my thumb because the blade is not locked into the blender. I may never have feeling in my thumb again. I see the splendor has been reported about since 2015 and I think it’s finally time that you officially recall it. This really is not right. Please know that I’m also a piano player and a violin player and this will unfortunately really impact my life. I hope you issue higher safety standards in the future

They basically said sorry and offered to sell me a new container and lid. Which I did not. I opened the lid two halfs today 03 01 19 and it has what looks like mold and funk in it. The product, in the report: Ninja Fit Personal Blender, Model QB3001SS
This product is in the category of personal blenders which generally include three main components: an ingredients cup, a cover with an integrated mixing blade, and an electric motor. The latest iteration of these devices are marketed as personal juicers, pairing a high-wattage motor along with very sharp blades.
The manufacturer provides standard cautions, however this device and seeming the majority in the category do not provide a cover or some means of shielding the blade mechanism when it is not in use. As a result it is easy to cut or stab ones hands while using, cleaning, or storing the device. That has happened several times resulting in minor injuries thus far. Furthermore, the majority of these integrated lid/blade mechanisms tend to be black in color and camouflage their presence on a counter or inside a dark cabinet.
I implore the CPSC and manufacturers (e.g. Ninja) to implement simple safeguards to reduce the likelihood of injury. Ninja specifically produces personal and counter top devices containing sharp mixing blades yet don’t include a protective cover to prevent users (and children) from inadvertently contacting the blades. .

The product, in the report: Ninja Auto IQ 1000W Blender
***********DO NOT BUY A SHARK NINJA BLENDER***************IT WILL BLOW UP ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At exactly 5:15 P.M. on January 25th 2018, My Ninja Blender Auto IQ exploded during removal off the lid after blending and I suffered deep second degree burns on my wrists, hands, face, and neck. The food that I put in the blender was room temperature and the blender heated up the food to the point that I was badly burned. Luckily I am cautious with protecting my head/face in emergency situations or my face would be completely scarred. I originally bought this blender to accommodate my daughter who is fed through G-Tube. I purchased the blender a year prior to the incident and used the blender 2-4 a day EVERY SINGLE DAY. The first time I used the blender I blended some dinner left overs (that was refrigerated over night) and my daughters prescription formula. When I went to take the lid off the pressure from blending it popped the lid off with a hard force and there was steam coming from the contents inside. I checked to feel the temperature and was surprised at how warm it was. I checked online to see if I could find any information on why it was making the food warm and with no luck, I just assumed that because the blenders blades rotated so quickly that it heated the content. As time went on I noticed that it kept heating food a little warmer after every use. I never imagined that it would have heated the food and exploded out of the container like it did, burning me in the process. My attorney contacted Ninja and explained the situation and the product malfunction. Ninja in no way accepted responsibility or even apologized. However, Ninja did say they would be willing to work with our claim but only if we agreed to send them the evidence (blender) so they could have it tested in their facility (China). My attorney is currently in the process of having the product tested through a forensic engineer. My body is scarred and I am absolutely terrified to use any kitchen appliance. I am also in the process of conducting a media campaign to show the true nature of SharkNinja Operating, LLC. They do not care about the safety of the consumer and only care about the all mighty dollar from the consumer.

Delivered: 08/09/2018
The consumer indicates that he was unwrapping the blender when he received a curved laceration to his right thumb approximately 1.5” long. The consumer states that this happened because when opened, one cannot see the blade as plastic covers all the different parts of the unit, and the blade was loose and not covered by plastic or cardboard. When the consumer went to retrieve the plastic from the cup, he unknowingly grabbed the blade; the consumer treated his wound with liquid bandage. The consumer has yet to use the blender.
08/10/2018 - The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and left them a voicemail informing them of the incident however the consumer has yet to receive communication from them.
The consumer plans on keeping his blender for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Electronic Blender
My daughter suffered a deep laceration to her foot after the blade assembly from a Ninja BL660 fell out while pouring.
We were using the blender for only the second time, and had removed the lid to check the consistency of our smoothie. My 8 year old son was pouring the smoothie in to cups, and the blade assembly slid out and fell to the floor, lacerating the top of my 5 year old daughters foot. She has an one inch laceration that required 5 stitches at the ER. The cut was very deep and almost went through the entire foot.
I feel we were very lucky that she did not suffer a more serious laceration. Given her standing position, the weight, sharpness and fall trajectory of the blade assembly, the injury could have been much worse. She could easily have suffered a laceration to her arm or leg which could have resulted in a laceration to the radial or femoral artery.
There is a warning on the lid, but it is a small 1 inch square sticker, light grey sticker on dark grey plastic. The lid does lock in place, but I don’t think it’s unusual to remove the lid from a blender. There should be some form of friction or locking mechanism, the blade assembly should not slip out as easily as it does.

The product, in the report: Defective product is a kitchen blender sold in various configurations including Auto-IQ 1500 watts.
This kitchen blender has a hollow pitcher handle with an opening at the top into which food migrates during blending. The handle isn’t user-openable, so the lodged food remains inside, rots, and molds. When the blender is used again the food inside the top of the handle can then remigrate into new food that is blended, introducing contaminants into mixture. The manufacturer sent me a replacement pitcher, but the same thing happened during the first usage.
I spoke to the company’s customer service today and they acknowledged that the pitcher had been redesigned in a newer version of the product so that the handle no longer has the opening, but the unsafe product is still being sold at Costco and other retailers, and many thousands of the defective product have been sold.

About less than a month ago, on a Sunday evening, I took my new blender right out of the box brand new, and proceeded to ‘smoothie’ some vegetables and fruits. All seemingly was going well, until I poured the beverage into my glass, using my right hand to pour, and my left hand middle finger was lacerated by the nonfound warning extremely dangerous and falling out spiraling blade. The end of the finger was literally almost cut into, and in my hysterics, my boyfriend tried to stop the bleeding to no avail. I was inconsolable, and he commenced to drive me to our emergent care office at that time. It was approximately 5:20PM, on a Sunday mind you, and after my finger literally Pushing Blood out profusely allover our home, we arrived at the center and they were closed. At this point just by sitting down and calmly getting myself together and off my feet, the bleeding subsided and we decide not to head to the local hospital emergency room, as we are small business owners in the [REDACTED] area, and opted for a trip to our local pharmacy for liquid bandage adhesive and more products, and carried back home to clean up.
I work with my hands Every Day, to provide for my family and pay my bills. I do computer hardware repair, and this literally put me down for a solid week, albeit my left hand.
Just Tonight, Again, a month later after being scared half to death by this expensive and obviously dangerous product, I thought Id give it one more try, being extremely cautious due to the last round of use. I went to pour my drink into my glass, still painful left hand so my right hand assisted. The blade this time literally dodged out of the blender housing, lacerating my Right Hand ring finger in the same way except way worse. Luckily, since my boyfriend was at work, my 17 year old daughter and her boyfriend were home with me, and helped me in my terrifying panic, blood is everywhere in my house, this time my good working hand. I will send you photos and dates of previous and current injuries, all scarring of the month ago event, bloody napkins, and this monstor device that now resides in my garage until I can have resolve on the issue.
*Since yet another Sunday, no transportation to get to the emergency room, my hysterical child witness was able to calm me down and stop my bleeding once again. We are presently taking photos of this latest incident for your records.
I have never been a ‘consumer complainer’, in fact have Never conducted a full on complaint of any sort over a consumer kitchen appliance, but this is utterly ridiculous. And now my good hand, as I Am Right Handed, is out of commission until who knows when. I am requesting a formal complaint and assistance on what to do at this point, other than a lawsuit.
I need someone to contact me immediately, as I have an attorney I have notified and hired to help me with this issue. Im not sure if I need stitches, as every time I try to remove the bandages my distraught daughter helped me with, the laceration begins profusely bleeding again, and she has school tomorrow and I have my local small business to try to run.
I would appreciate your prompt and immediate attention in this matter.
Thank you, [REDACTED]

On May 5, 2016, I was assembling our Ninja Master Prep Professional blender when it activated in my hand. I had it plugged in and was assembling the blade onto the machine part prior to putting it in the blender canister when it activated. It caused a very severe laceration to my right hand (dominant) palm and caused lacerations to my palmar arch artery, two nerves to my fingers, and a tendon going to my thumb. It would be very easy for another person to do this given that the blade did not need to be safely placed in the canister or locked in for it to activate.

The product, in the report: Blender Nutri Ninja® Blender System with Auto-IQ™ Model BL682
I have a Nutri Ninja® Blender System with Auto-IQ™ Model BL682 which I purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond. I previously had their Model BL740 which has the same problem. The blender blades has a hard plastic casing and a rubber o-ring to give a proper seal when using the blender for the NutriNinja cups. The debris from blended food becomes lodged between the rubber ring and the hard plastic casing of the blade housing resulting in build up of decaying food, mold, and a putrid odor. I contacted the manufacturer asking if there is a way to easily remove the rubber ring for proper cleaning and they informed me that the rubber ring should not be removed. This leaves the consumer with the problem that food debris will become lodged there posing a health hazard. I have looked online and found many posts from people with similar problems and they ultimately removed the rubber ring using a knife or other tool and found a large amount of rotting food matter. The instructions that come with the product for cleaning (fill blender with soapy water and run it on the blender) only cleans the blade and does nothing for the debris that is stuck between the rubber ring and the hard casing.

My ninja blender cut my son’s face. My husband was carrying the blender to the refrigerator to put ice in it. As he raise the unit towards the ice maker, the bad launched out, causing it to slice open my son’s face. [REDACTED] I have outstanding medical bills of around $2672. Future medical bills are projected to be $10,000. Ninja kitchen is responsible for this. My heath insurance will not pay because they say it is 3rd party responsible. My son is entitled to pain and suffering as well. I submitted a link for an online calculator with an amount that is figured as a settlement in this case. Ninja offered me $7,500. That will not even cover the current medical expenses along with future expenses, not to mention the pain that my 3 year old son endured and the HUGE SCAR ON HIS FACE!
This company is negligent, if you got to the Ninja Kitchen Facebook page, you will see all the posts on there about injuries. Ninja conveniently hides them, until they are called out and then they allow the posts to be visible again. My son is not the only one to suffer an injury. The blade needs to be locked in, the post it sits on needs to be longer, or held in place with a magnet or pin.
Someone from the safety department called me from his personal cell phone top discuss this matter with me. He admitted that this was not misuse of the product, the pitcher was not designed to be a stationary object. It has a handle and was designed to be carried. He said he is aware of how lose the blade sits in the pitcher, but they are at a loss of what to do, since it is so sharp and they don’t know how to latch it in and make it safe for people to reach in and unlatch it. He said this approach seemed like the option with less risk of getting cut.

After making salsa in a Ninja kitchen blender, model NJ600 (not included in your recall) I removed the lid and began pouring the contents into a bowl I was holding in my left hand. The blade assembly fell from the blender onto my thumb, causing a sever laceration that severed the extensor tendon. Urgent care sutured the cut and referred me to a hand surgeon. I just spent six weeks in a splint to see if the tendon would repair itself without the need for surgery. I have limited use of the thumb at this point and a determination about surgery is pending.

The product, in the report: Ninja - Mega Kitchen System 72-Oz. Blender - Black Model BL770
Hello,
I purchased Ninja BL770 from Best Buy in November 2015. While the product is very good. The serious design flaw is that the blade can fall out while emptying the blended/processed contents from the jug. This is because the blade is not locked into place. I understand that it is expected that the consumer removes the blade before emptying. We have been using the Ninja BL770 for 5 months now and every time the blade falls out. Twice now it has caused injuries because the blade falls on the thumb or finger. Today the blade fell out and caused a deep gash on my thumb. I had to use 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide and 1 bottle of isopropyl alcohol to contain the bleeding. While the would is deep it cannot be stitched due to its location. This is a very serious flaw in the design of this product that the blade is not locked and can fall out. For years the blender industry has trained its users with locked blades - while it is possible to get accustomed to “unlocked” blades from Ninja, I worry that users like me are getting injured while using this product.
Thank you

I was injured by the “s” blade of the Ninja Mega Kitchen System 1500 Model BL773CO F15 Spring, while doing a refund on it at my job with Costco Wholesale. I received 3 stitches in my left thumb and butterfly bandages on my left middle finger. This model was sold on March 3rd 2016, used and then returned on March 11th 2016. While putting all components of the system back into the box after verifying all of the product was present; protocol for a refund-the “s” blade sliced open my left thumb and left middle finger by reaching into the bowl to grab the shaft of the blade, instead the “s” blade cut me to the point of bleeding continually until I got to the health clinic for medical care and they took medical measures to stop the bleeding. This unit is past the one recalled from those sold between March 2012 and September 2015. When sharing my injury with friends I learned that this has happened to some of them and also to my sister. Why is this product still available to the public? It should have some sort of protective sleeve or blade protector.

No one hurt Made Mar 14, 2016, sent to the company Apr 8, 2016, published by CPSC Apr 22, 2016
The product, in the report: Blender Ninja Professional 1500 watts
Consumer stated that while the blender was in use for approximately 5 mins, he noticed sparks emitting from the bottom right sight side of the blender and there was a burning odor. He then noticed that it had developed into a black smoke. He immediately unplugged it and remove it outside. He had the blender for over a year and there was no prior incident.
The manufacturer was not contacted as yet.
Consumer feels that the blender is unsafe and should be reported.
This incident with Ninja BL770 occurred today while making a smoothie. Ingredients being processed: 3 medjool dates 2 bananas Mango Coconut flakes Dried lime Dried lime zest & orange zest Quart of cold water
Because the consumer had brought the dates about an hour before starting to make this smoothie, they had not been soaked. Thus, he ran the blender on high speed for a couple of minutes to emulsify them with about 4-6 ounces of cold water. Then added the bananas, dried lime sections, emulsified them on high.2-3 minutes. Next, added the flesh from a decently ripe mango and a little more cold water. Emulsified on high 1-2 minutes. Added remain of the cold water. Blended medium less than a minute. Tasted. Decided not thick enough. Pour out most of the smoothie to allow him to blend-in coconut flakes. After starting the flakes to blend, decided to add dried zest (lime & orange). Added those ingredients; started blending on high. Because he had not ground the zest before adding it to the smoothie, the consumer figured he needed to run the blender a little longer than he would have otherwise. It had been running 2-3 minutes when either sparking or the odor from the blender caught the consumer’s attention from where he was standing at the kitchen counter about 5-6 feet away. The blender was still running.
The consumer immediately investigated. He had noticed on other occasions that the blender seem to get really warm. But, it had never shutdown; or, otherwise gave indication of overheating. However, since he had ran it longer than usual, his initial thought was maybe it was beginning to overheat. While the blender was still running, he saw what he believe was sparking coming out of the left rear side. The consumer immediately turned the blender off and unplugged it. At this time, smoke - noxious smelling like ‘burnt plastic’ - was billowing out of the blender.
Took the pitcher off. Turned the blender over; and saw where the plastic center section had begun to melt. There was still a lot of smoke being generated.
Remove the blender base to my outside landing.
Decided to take pictures with his cell phone; and then, with digital camera.
Also, took pictures where the blender had been setting. There was substantial black dust on the pad I had had under it. The consumer cannot say that all the black dust was from this incident because the reason the pad was under the blender was its history of making that black dust when used.
Attached are two pictures, The consumer has retained 10 other pictures. If you need additional information about this incident, please contact me.

The product, in the report: BL701 Shark Ninja Blender
I received a Shark Ninja Blender as an early birthday gift. I crushed some ice in it right away to see how good it works. It was fantastic. It really does crush ice into snow. The problem with this product is that it is a real safety hazard. The bladed do not lock in place and can fall out of the blender. It does not tell you on the box about the blades not being able to lock into place. My daughter’s hand was cut open by the blade while I was rinsing the blender out. I tilted the blender to let the water out and the blade came right down on her hand. She had to get stitches and the scar tissue is thick that she still complains of being in pain after a month and a half after the incident.

I warned my children not to EVER touch this appliance, it could easily sever a digit or worse. I told my wife about the incident and she didn’t heed my warning and cut her finger to the point that she won’t let the kids use it and now she is very careful. I received the Ninja Mega Kitchen system blender as a Christmas gift in December 2013. As I unpacked the box and tried to take the 64 oz blender out of the box, I couldn’t get it to release from the styrofoam. I pulled up on the handle not knowing that it was a locking mechanism. As I pulled the blender from the box, the top pulled off and the bottom of the blender fell away while the chopping blade fell out. The chopping blade lacerated the back of my leg, severing my sural nerve. My leg was operated on and an attempt to reconnect the sural nerve was attempted. Unfortunately, I deal with the pain daily from the injury almost two years later.

I have a Ninja BL660 Professional Blender. While unpacking the blender, the spiral blending part slid out and sliced off a decent portion of my left middle finger (the tip). It healed ok but now I have a nasty scar. Obviously not a great experience; I wish there would have been some warning as to how sharp that was or some notice to handle it in a specific way to avoid this issue.

Just as others have stated... When I poured drinks from my Ninja Blender I have been cut a couple of times trying to dodge or just pouring wash water from the pitcher. I commented to my wife how dangerous this unit is as my thumb bled all over the kitchen. The blades are extremely sharp and you ‘forget’ that it is just sitting in the pitcher loose as you tilt the pitcher. Needs some kind of lock or better design to keep people safer.

The product, in the report: Ninja Professional Blender BL660
Ninja Professional Blender BL660 I had a deep cut to my finger from the blade of the blender as I was carefully washing it. I had reported this to Ninja and all they said was to be more careful. I requested for a refund and take the item back (although purchased from Amazon) but they said that they cannot do that because it was not purchased from them directly. Amazon too rejected the return since it had passed their return policy. I purchased this blender last September and found after that it was too dangerous that I wanted to return it. Sadly, both manufacturer and seller refused to take the return. THE BLADES ARE INCREDIBLY SHARP AND EVEN THOUGH YOU HANDLE WITH EXTREME CARE, YOU CAN STILL GET LACERATIONS! Please help!

Emergency room Made May 13, 2015, sent to the company May 21, 2015, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2015
The product, in the report: Ninja kitchen blender
I seriously cut myself twice within 15 minutes while using this blender for the first time. I would not recommend this blender for anyone. In my opinion it is defectively designed. The Ninja uses a long attachment with concentric circular blades much unlike the normal blade design typically used in blenders. The Ninja’s “razor blade Christmas tree” design provides no discernible benefit over the normal blade design yet increases the risk of injury exponentially. I seriously cut the index finger on my right hand while inserting the blade attachment into the pitcher. Minutes later, the attachment fell out of the pitcher into my left hand while I was pouring the contents of the pitcher onto a plate (the poorly mixed, half-blended contents, I might add). It caused a deep gash in my palm requiring four stitches to close. The attachment fell out of the pitcher because it is designed to sit loose on the base of the blender with no secure connection whatsoever. Not surprisingly, a quick review of Safer Products complaints shows others have been injured in the same manner and even more seriously. I was lucky to escape with only four stitches. I immediately returned the blender to the place of purchase for a full refund. Avoid at all costs. The Ninja blender is needlessly dangerous, almost as if the manufacturer set out to create a booby trap. Mission accomplished.

The product, in the report: Single serving blender
I was using my Ninja Professional blender. I mixed the pancake batter and was unable to remove the top. I tried several grippers in order to remove it and it wouldn’t bufge. I sat it upright on the counter and turned to do something else. All of a sudden there was a loud bang. The top flew off and went about 12 feet. The top contains the very sharp mixing blades and fortunately it did not fly in my direction or hit someone. The blades and force could have killed a child, pet or severely cut someone. Batter flew everywhere. I know that the lid was on straight. I have used this to mix this batter many times. I feel this is a great safety hazard. I did call the company about this incident but they seem to only be interested in settling a claim for damages. I do not feel that is an issue, but product safety is the issue.

The product, in the report: Ninja Professional Blender Model #BL660
I was using my Ninja Professional Blender (Model BL660) to blend frozen fruit and milk. This blender was purchased on or around August 2014 from BJ’s Wholesale Club and was being used as it has been each day since purchasing. After blending for approximately 10 seconds, the right side of the blender exploded out, and shot about 8 feet across my kitchen landing next to the table where my 2 children were eating breakfast. There were 2 separate pieces that were approximately 2” and 4”, with razor sharp edges. The contents of the blender were sprayed across my kitchen out of this opening. Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY concerned about this product and have contacted Ninja twice regarding this matter. I have not yet heard back from their claims department. I took several pictures of the blender following the incident that can be provided if necessary.

The product, in the report: Ninja Blender
While cleaning the Ninja Blender I poured the warm water soap solution out (as indicated by the directions) at which point the blades fell out of the blender hitting my right hand creating deep lacerations across my middle and ring fingers. This immediately caused loss of control and sensation in my ring finger. I was taken to the emergency department for medical treatment, I have since been under the care of a hand surgeon who was able to surgically reattach my tendons, though I may have some permanent nerve damage. This product has caused me a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering. The Ninja blender product design is flawed and needs to be removed from the market to prevent any future injuries.

The product, in the report: Ninja mega kitchen system blender
I went to use my ninja blender for the first time today. As I got it out to clean it, the blade fell onto my foot. The blade sliced deeply into foot, to the bone. I was bleeding all over and screamed for my sisters help. As she ran to assist me, she accidentally kicked the blade that was lying next to me, as she did not see it. This resulted in half her toe being cut off, and part of the bone. We spent most of the day in the ER. I got away with just stitches and a tetanus shot... My sister was referred to a plastic surgeon to get a skin graft on her toe. Maybe this company should consider putting a button release for the blade, considering it is sharp enough to cut bone.
