The product, in the report: Haier Blender that is currently recalled.
We started hearing noises in the blender but did not know what it was. We noticed a metal taste in our smoothies and then the whole blade unit came apart in pieces. My husband almost got cut collecting the pieces not knowing there was two loose blades.

The product, in the report: 2-speed glass blender, stainless steel base.
I was using the Haier HB500bss Blender. As I walked away from the blender, the glass shattered, but there were no injuries. I was unaware of the recall so I threw everything away, except for the base.

The product, in the report: Blender
After preparing a drink in the blender and pouring it in a glass the consumer’s son began to drink from the glass when he noticed that one of the blades had detached from the blender.
The blinder has two blades and it is unknown how the one blade detached from the blinder. No injuries were sustained. The consumer has discontinued the use of the blinder and the firm has not been contacted.
While the consumer’s son was doing some research on the internet he noticed that the model blinder that his dad has is the same one that was affected by the recall where the hazard was the blade assemblies of the blenders may come apart or break, posing a laceration risk (see release #10-52). Consumer spoke with the manufacturer on 7/21/1. They stated they wold reimburse me $25 and they would want the old blender. As of 8/2/11, he has not heard anymore.

No one hurt Made Jul 11, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 2, 2011
The product, in the report: Haier HB500BSS 500-Watt Commercial-Style Stainless-Steel Blender
I bought the Haier HB500BSS 500-Watt Commercial-Style Stainless-Steel Blender in July 2009. It was purchased on Amazon.com, I got the description and when I bought it from my order history. Today I was using it and the blade mechanism became loose while using it. Then there was a smell of smoke. I removed the pitcher and blade mechanism. The turning rod at the base of the unit has been stripped by the loose mechanism. The whole unit is now useless. I am unhappy because up and til now I have been really happy with the unit. Now I can’t use it. Can you please let me know what I should do? I saw your recall on the mechanism.
