The product, in the report: Single making blender, comes with 4 individual cups, 2 blade heads, and an extra rubber gasket.
I purchased the GE single serve blender at Walmart’s for 19.99. It comes with 2 sets of blade covers (one laying on top of the other to form a +) and they each have rubber gaskets in them to prevent leaking when it’s turned on. It also comes with a second gasket in a little plastic bag. 1...While blending, the blades separated and the rubber gasket came loose and got chopped up by the blades. I thought the unit was just a bad one, and threw it out. 2...Because it was the size unit I wanted, I decided to give it another try and bought another one. After a couple of weeks, I thought this new blender was ok but one day, after blending another drink, pouring it into a glass and drinking a few sips, I noticed the gasket was wrapped around the blades again and torn apart. After fitting the gasket pieces back together again, I was missing one tiny piece so I know I drank the piece of rubber!!! 3... To see if it would happen again, I put in the new gasket and every day blended just plain water (without drinking it)...and about a week later, it happened again. THE GASKET WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE BLENDER AND TORN INTO PIECES! I honestly feel this could present a MAJOR CHOKING HEALTH HAZARD...IF NOT DEATH...if you were not aware this could happen and just mixed the drink and drank it right away. This product should definitely be taken off the market. It’s a great idea but also a great health hazard!

The product, in the report: “GE” Digital Blender. Model 169202. UPC 6-81131 69202-1
Not sure if this is really a safety related issue or not. On my “GE” brand electric blender model # 169202, the drive gear of the blade assembly had cracked during operation and a small quantity of smoke came from the blender as the motor continued to drive the plastic gear on the square nut of the blade shaft. When the blender body was removed from the motor base small plastic fragments were visible as well as a smear of melted plastic across the square nut. This occurred while making a smoothie with frozen fruit, which must have jammed the blades. The blender was returned to Wal-Mart and was replaced under the two year warranty. It would be difficult to be injured in such an incident, and even running unattended the blender has a 3 minute automatic shut off which, I think, would prevent any fire concern from the melting plastic. I thought I would notify you of this incident in case there are other reports of problems with this product.

The product, in the report: GE Digital Blender #169202
I was hosting a party at my home which included making margaritas. I purchased this blender at Wal-Mart 3 days earlier and successfully made 2 pitchers of margaritas (tequila, grand marnier, and ice). On the third attempt, a large chunk of glass exploded from the bottom of the glass jar thowing glass shards and liquid all over my kitchen. One large chunk of glass hit me in the stomach and several small slivers of glass were found on the floor, countertops, and bread basket. There was a huge mess to clean up since liquid sprayed all over the floor, cabinets, and other kitchen appliances. It was a great inconvenience and diappointment, not to mention a very scary and dangerous situation. The party was interrupted to clean up the mess and we were no longer able to serve margaritas.
