I am submitting a report regarding a malfunction with a BlendJet mini blender. This unit was previously subject to a recall, and I received a replacement base with blade approximately one to two years ago as part of that process. During normal use to prepare salad dressing, after securely assembling the blender and pressing the power button, the base unexpectedly detached from the plastic housing while in operation. As a result, the exposed blade spun freely and made contact with my forearm, causing multiple cuts to my forearm due to the product failure. The blender should not have come apart during normal operation, and this incident raises serious safety concerns. I request that this incident be investigated and that appropriate safety measures be taken to prevent similar injuries to other consumers.

I sent the follow to the Blendjet company at BlendJet Safety safety@blendjet.com Your blender almost set my house on fire. As you can see from the attached photos, your Blendjet became so hot that the charging cord melted. I smelled smoke and rushed into the room where this occurred, and immediately disconnected both and put them outside and took these photos. I then looked on [REDACTED] and found the article below, stating that you had recalled these devices for that very reason. However, as I understand the article, this Blendjet serial number came after the recall, so you still have a problem, obviously. So I don’t want a replacement, and will not be buying another. I want you to send me the refund for what I paid for this defective device. I paid $54.57. [REDACTED]
They told me they would give me a replacement. I told them I don’t want a replacement, since this serial number was made AFTER the recall reported [REDACTED]. They refused. They should be prevented from selling this dangerous product.

My blade broke off my BLENDJET while I was blending my drink. LUCKILY, I noticed a difference in the blending noise and I emptied the BLENDJET to notice the blade in my drink. I could have possible drank pieces of metal or the blade in my mouth. I then researched and noticed it had a recall and submitted the recall on 5/6/2024 and I have not recieved a replacement since.

Blendjet2 serial# 5332016433. This item poses a very severe risk of personal injury to the user or others nearby. The unit is functional without the lid on, meaning it can be turned on and the blades will spin at normal operating speed without the lid on at all. This is an extremely dangerous situation that would likely cause a severe injury, as hands and objects can be put into the container while the blades are spinning at full speed - a hand would be mutilated, and any object dropped into the container would be whipped about and likely expelled back out through the opening. This scenario is ongoing, meaning my blendjet2 has always operated without the lid on and there has been no product or software update that has remedied the dangerous situation.

I was using a BlendJet blender purchased from Costco for the first time, and I heard the blending mechanism make a small popping noise. The power input began smoking, so I put the blender outside of my room. Within 1-2 minutes, the bottom part of the blender exploded, leaving charred marks on the walls and shrapnel in the area.

My wife was using her Blendjet 2 <ser #5325008007> to make a smoothie using protein powder, fruit and some ice cubes like normal. She started to drink her smoothie when she felt something foreign in her mouth from the Blendjet 2 container. She spit out the object and it was a 1/2 in long piece of the serrated blade from the Blendjet 2. Upon inspection of the blades of the machine, we found that the serrated blade that points in the upward position was sheared off and matched the piece that was broken. Luckily she did not swallow the piece of the blade or cut her mouth, but obviously this is a serious safety concern.

My wife’s Blendjet 2 started running on it’s own yesterday, couldn’t be shutoff for 10+ minutes, overheated, smoked and melted the casing!
My wife had used her Blendjet 2 for breakfast Saturday August 26th as per normal, cleaned it out and left it on the kitchen counter near the paper towel holder with the lid off but the main container still attached.
Over two hours later we were in the garage getting ready to leave the house and came back inside to get something and heard a whirring sound that we tracked down to the Blendjet running on the kitchen counter with the blades turning. We pressed the button to turn it off and it sped up to normal mixing speed! So we pressed the button again and it slowed down but didn’t stop. We repeated this process numerous times with similar results and were unable to stop the motor and the spinning blades. We tried holding the button to reset it, nothing worked. The lights flashing were sometimes red but nothing would turn it off.
Not sure what to do we put it down on the counter away from other things hoping the battery would die soon. A few minutes later my wife yelled out to me in the garage that the Blendjet 2 was smoking! I grabbed it and took it out onto the driveway away from the house and cars. I took off the clear plastic container part assuming there would be an automatic safety shutoff to protect users from the spinning blades, and it still didn’t stop!
By now it was getting pretty hot to hold and so I dropped the base with spinning blades on the driveway to try to break it and stop it which didn’t work. We then thought to try to video it and managed to capture the last second of it running with the blades spinning as it rolled around on the sidewalk.
After it finally stopped I tried to pick it up and it was too hot to hold.
I took a picture of the melted casing.
My wife never dropped this Blendjet 2 or submersed it in water.
Had this happened just a few minutes later, after we had left the house, this Blendjet 2 could have easily caused a fired which could have destroyed our house!
We also sent this report to the manufacturers customer support department. We are not looking for a replacement. We only want to warn others of this dangerous situation and the failure of at least two safety features on this Blendjet 2 (auto shutoff after 30 seconds, and a shutoff when the container is not attached).

recived the blendjet 2 today. opened it from the box and turned it on, it worked fine. about 8 hours later i turned it on again to demonstrate i. it started its blend cycle but didnt turn off. I thought I heard it burning and then saw glowing through the plastic base. then smelled the distinct smell of electrical fire. it then started smoking (white smoke). so i put it into my sink. It still wasn’t turning off, so I ran water over it until it stopped. About 2 hours later at the time of writing this, it still has the led, indicating its on, turned on and wont turn off.

There is a product called blendjet.com or Blendjet 2. It is a cylinder portable blender that you can make fruit drinks, proteins, shakes, etc. with. The blender will operate by a simple push the button which is on the side of the blender and is easy to activate. The blender will operate without the lid on the top of the blender. The blades are extremely sharp. The manufactures error proofing feature is that the arrows have to align at the bottom of the plastic cylinder to the base in order to operate. Also, you can hold down the button for three seconds, and it will not operate unless you hold it down again. So the biggest problem I have with this product is that now I see is being marketed to children and the styles they have for this product include the [REDACTED] characters. Children are always sticking their hands in these type of containers, and I believe that this is not effectively error approved. I was on an error proofing expert team for [REDACTED] and I worked in Safety and crashworthiness and participated in a lot of child safety activities. I purchased one of these blenders for myself but after using, it will not purchase for my children because of my grand children. I would be extremely concerned about my grandchildren, putting their hands in this blender I am writing to you to prevent accidents with children. This product is being advertised without any safety risks identified and smaller, children were in the commercial, drinking out of the entire container which included the base and could easily activate. I’ve bumped it numerous times and activated it. This product is not error proofed. While this product is very unique and is portability there are other designs that lock out peoples hands with the lids so that no one is in advertently cut by the blades. I think this is an irresponsible design and definitely should not be marketed to children, and I would like to hear from your organization about what you will do based on my complaint. I am only submitting this complaint, in order to protect children from a catastrophic event with getting severely cut by this blender. I already lodged a complaint with the manufacturer@blendjet.com but I don’t see them doing anything and I again was very upset when I saw this marketed to children.

Hello, I should inform you of a situation that happened on April 15, 2023.
My husband and I were charging our Blendjet 2 on the kitchen island, and it caught fire! After a brief moment, the product exploded and started a larger fire in our kitchen. Luckily our [REDACTED] caught the explosion.
The fire department arrived, and the fire chief identified the rechargeable battery as the cause of the explosion.

The product, in the report: We want to make you aware of a serious problem with this item. We recently purchased several BlendJet 2 products from Costco in December. We gave some out as Christmas gifts and then kept one for ourselves. We currently have Serial #5356023156 in our possession. This morning we found out that the ends of two blades were broken off. We found one of the pieces inside the cup we were getting ready to drink, however, the 2nd piece we did not find and believe my son may have swallowed it prior to our discovery at an earlier time. We don’t know how the blade ends could have broken off, The hardest type of items we put inside the Blenjet are ice cubes with water, which the manufacturer’s website states the BlendJet 2 can do. Please advise what other information you may need to address our concern. Thank you.

The blade of my portable blender made by Blendjet broke off while it was mixing my shake and I was concerned becasue I could of swolled it. The product was being used with a shake packet in it, water and ice to mix the shake. No injuries occurred. I called my 2 friends that have one to warn them of this happening.

Lack of safety features. This product lacks safety features such as a tilt sensor or open lid sensor. The only sensor it has is a magnetic switch built into the base and bottom of the vessel.

I was cleaning it with water and noticed it wasn’t spinning at first until I tightened the vessel. Which lead me to discover the lack of safety features.
There are no injuries to report. Product will run when lid is open. Which may lead to someone somehow getting their fingers into the tube (a child for instance) and being severely injured.

I purchased two Blendajet2 on December 8th, 2022 as a Christmas gifts and it costs $108 when I purchased at Kohls for two Blendajet2. The wire was melt and the Lendajet2 charged area was burnt without reason when I was charging the Blendjet2 as a daily routine. Thanksgoodness I discovered in time to avoid the circuit to catch fired. It happened on Friday, January 27th, 2023.

I have owned a Blendjet since Jan 22 and the only thing that I use it for is to make my daughter smoothies. The smoothies only contain a half of a frozen banana, protein liquid, and ice. I made her one this morning and one of the serrated blades broke off and went into her smoothie. She sucked it up through her straw and felt it in her mouth. She immediately spit it out. If she had swallowed it the blade would have torn through her intestines’ and stomach.

If you press the power button, it can be operated.
The consumer is concerned that a child could stick their hand inside the blender and become injured.
He was able to operate it while in the retailer’s store. There is a rubber cap on the top of the blender, to cover it during use.

Hello, no injury has occurred, but this portable blender presents a huge safety liability for people around small children. The product is a portable blender, BlendJet2. It is meant to be used on the go, not in a kitchen and safely stored away from children. I assumed the product would have a locking lid since it could be used anywhere, but it turns on even with the lid removed. The blade speed is very powerful. For a young curious child, the size is perfect for small hands to be harmed permanently. The cool light up button, bright color choices, and noises that it makes definitely make it interesting to children. I have a young child at home, and if we didn’t notice this feature he could have easily gotten into my husband’s work bag and started playing with it without our knowledge at home. This product, due to its function as a portable blender that cannot be safely stored in a kitchen at all times away from small children, should absolutely have a feature to lock the lid while the blades are moving.
