The product, in the report: Beaba neo baby food maker
I purchased a relatively new babyfood maker called the Beaba Neo. The product does not hard vegetables into a smooth purée. The instruction manual says that it does. The “baby food” is a definite hazard to any baby that attempts to eat it. The product is intended for babies 4 months and up. This is very scary considering first time parents may not know the food it not a suitable consistency for their little one. The product steaks and blends. I steamed carrots and then tired to blend them in the product and the “puree” was so groaning and thick! I put the same “Purée” straight out of the neo into my[REDACTED] Blender and it became a smooth purée suitable for infants. I first contacted Beaba to notify them on August 2, 2018 and they refused to even refund my money. After much discussion vis email they had me send it to them so they could “product test” it. They told me on August 17, 2018 that it works fine. This is NOT true. I took a video of me using the product and the resulting “puree”. In the video I even take that dangerous “puree” and put it in my blender to demonstrate the difference. I will copy and paste the emails from Beaba and I so you can read them. I am also including links to the three part video I took of the hazardous product. Please at least watch Part 3 to understand the problem. I thank you for your time and I hope no babies choke on this very hazardous “baby food”.

PART 3 [REDACTED]
The following is my email correspondence with Beaba:
Hello,
I ordered a Beaba Neo and I am very unsatisfied with it. I’ve used it 3x and it already has carrot stains on the plastic that are impossible to remove. I could live with that, but the blender does not turn the baby food into a puree. Carrots stay very grainy and they are a choking hazard for my baby. I took the grainy puree and out it in my Ninja Blender and it turned into a nice smooth puree. I would like a full refund including shipping and return shipping if possible.
Thank you for contacting BEABA USA! I understand that you would like to return your Babycook for a refund.
Unfortunately, we are only able to process returns for unused products purchased directly through beabausa.com within the last 30 days.
For a copy of our return policy, please click here.
If you would like, we would be more than happy to help troubleshoot the issue(s) you are experiencing with your machine.
The blender is designed to only puree already steamed food. If the food is soft and moist from steaming you should be able to make a nice puree with added liquid, depending on how fine you’d like the mixture. We are sorry to hear that some of your plastic Beaba items have stained. I will provide you with some information that I am hoping you will find helpful.
Because all of our products are made without harsh chemicals (and are BPA, Lead, and Phthalate free), they can easily be stained by natural dyes found in food (for example, sweet potatoes, beets, blueberries, etc...). A similar situation would be when a clear plastic container is left tinted orange after heating up or storing tomato sauce.
To help avoid this naturally occurring staining, we recommend washing immediately after each use. For more stubborn stains, we recommend soaking the item in a bath of baking soda and warm water to help lift the color.
If you are unable to successfully remove the staining and would like the stained item replaced, as a one time courtesy, we would be happy to do that. Please provide us with the following information so that we can ship the item out asap:
- your full shipping address
Please note: the replacement may stain in the future as well and, again, we recommend soaking the item in a bath of baking soda and warm water.
Thank you for being a Beaba customer!
Please let us know, we are here and happy to help!
Best,
[REDACTED] Beaba Customer Support
Okay, I guess I would like the replacement, if you really will not refund my money one a product that does not work. But I really think it is fair to allow the product to be returned. I can create a video of me steaming the vegetables and then blending them in the Neo. It does not create a smooth puree no matter how much liquid is added. I can include in the video me then placing the same puree into my blender and it blending. It seems very unfair of you to sell a product that DOES NOT work and then refuse to issue a refund.
I am going to contact my credit card company to issue a reverse the charge if you cannot do it.
If you still refuse to refund my money on a product that does not work please let me know so I can take further action.
(Name omitted),
We have not heard of this issue with the Neo before, which is why we’d like to fully investigate the issue to determine if there is in fact something wrong with the blade or if it simply that the carrots are not being steam cooked enough. The Neo has an even sharper and more precise blade than our other Babycooks so this should not be a problem at all if the carrots are fully steamed. Which steam level are you cooking the carrots on? There are three fill levels in the reservoir, and it sounds like perhaps you may just need to steam the carrots for a longer period of time depending on how large the pieces are.
Best, [REDACTED]
The first time I tried steaming them on level 3 and the baby food was grainy after adding water and blending. The second time I tried steaming them on level 3 twice in a row. Then I added water and blended and the “purée” was still grainy. Its a total choking hazard for a young baby. The fact that you won’t return an item that does not do what it is intended to do and is a choking hazard to babies says a lot about who you are as a company. If you’re not going to return it. I am going to contact my credit card company and file a claim. I know they will refund my money because unlike your company so far they have good costumer service. Buying an item that DOES NOT WORK correctly and it a safety hazard for an infant is not ok.

Since the Neo is a newer product, we are merely trying to all the details so that we can best understand what is happening with the machine so that we can help other customers who may have similar issues. We will be more than happy to provide you with a return shipping label. Once we inspect the Neo and determine if there is a defect, we can refund you or replace the unit. Please note that as [REDACTED] mentioned, we are unable to provide refunds for used Babycooks that are not, in fact, defective.
Can you please confirm your shipping address?
Best, [REDACTED]
So what you’ve told me is that you do not think I know how to steam food and that it’s likely a user error which is completely ludacris. Blaming a customer for your inadequate product is probably the worst example of customer service. I don’t think the unit is defective. I think it’s a piece of junk. I’m guessing none of the neos work correctly. I have taken a video of the hazardous “baby food”. I am going to try and send it to you, but Gmail is saying it’s too big. And yes, that it my correct shipping address.

We can only determine what is going on with a Babycook once we receive it - until that point, we try our best to go through troubleshooting tips because many times, if food isn’t blending properly or if a Babycook is not steaming correctly (for example), there is a simple fix.
We’ve attached a prepaid Smartpost label here, which will allow you to drop your package off at your local post office or Fedex. Once we receive it, we’ll run through a few tests the same day to see what’s going on with your Neo. We’ll update you as soon as we can.
Best,
[REDACTED]
Hi (name),
We’ve received your Neo and have been testing it. Can you let us know what kinds of fruits or veggies you were trying to steam and blend? We’re trying to figure out what’s happening, as when we steamed on level 1 and pureed, your Neo produced a smooth puree. The blade is not dull, so there should be no reason for a coarse puree unless that’s what you’re trying to make. Please find the video attached. We can test additional fruits or veggies but so far, we’ve found that it consistently produces a smooth puree.
Best,
[REDACTED]
Carrots on level 3. Do you know how I can attach the video I made of your product?
Attached is a 3 part video of whats wrong with the Beaba Neo. Please at least watch part 3. Thank you.

The product, in the report: Baby BEABA baby food cooker (steamer and blender in one)
I purchased a Baby Beaba cooker to make fresh food for my baby. I have owned it only 2 months and the bottom plastic (around the blade) is cracking. This poses a big safety concern as pieces of this plastic once broken off will end up in my baby’s food and pose a choking hazard, and potential for internal injury if ingested. I have a friend who purchased the same cooker with me and her product is already chipping, she noticed missing plastic pieces and immediately notified me. Upon inspection of my own unit I noticed dozens of cracks in the bottom of my unit, thankfully no (visibly) missing pieces. My friend had to throw away all her baby food and is unsure how long her unit has been flaking plastic into her baby’s meals!
