The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: dishwasher
The consumer stated that the recall for the Thermador dishwashers should be expanded because he had the same issue as the units that were recalled. Also, there might be other units that are not in the recall but have the same issue.
On 6/14, the dishwasher stopped in the middle of the wash cycle. When the technician came out to repair the unit, he discovered that the junction box had burned. The power cord and the junction box had to be replaced.
The consumer contacted the firm on 6/14. He received a call back from the firm today (6/21) and was advised that the unit is not included in the recall and is out of warranty.
Dear Sir or Madam, I’m writing to provide some additional information to the report number referenced above. I’ve also attached additional documentation with the signed report / consent form with this email. This additional information includes a copy of the repair invoice, picture of my model information, expanded recall information and a Consumer Reports article related to the recall. Clarifying and / or expanded information for the initial report draft also includes the following: a. The model number is incorrect on the initial report you sent - I’ve hand marked the correction on the attached document. A couple letters were transposed. b. The symptoms of my product failure were identical to the units under the expanded recall (my unit was not included in that serial number range) -The unit stopped mid-cycle towards the end of the wash cycle and prior to the drying cycle. The unit lost all power and would not function. I turned off the breaker as a precaution. c. The repair of my unit was identical to the repairs made to units under recall - The attached repair receipt shows the identical repair to what BSH is doing for the recalled units, including replacement of the power cord and junction box. I would point out that the junction box was clearly burned when the technician removed it. There were bum marks, melted plastic and a distinct aroma of melted plastic / wire insulation (I do not have a picture of this). Fortunately, the burned area was contained within the junction box and did not spread to the drywall around it. Attached is a picture from the internet of the recall repair parts, matching identically to what was replaced on my unit. d. The BSH factory technician knew what was likely wrong before actually looking at the unit - When I described the symptoms of my dishwasher failure the technician said he “had a very good idea of what was causing this.” He did check the serial number to confirm this unit was not included in the expanded recall. When I asked additional questions, he commented that he had seen this before. Additionally, he went out of his way to make me feel like I was getting a good deal. He mentioned that the power cord was much cheaper because of the recall and would give me a deal on the labor as well. While this was much appreciated, it piqued my curiosity and prompted me to look online at the recall details and repair required after he left. The similarities in both the symptoms and repair are too identical to be dismissed as mere coincidence. e. This unit was installed properly -This unit was purchased at Best Buy through their high-end Pacific Kitchen & Home store. It was also installed by their certified technicians. It is exceptionally unlikely that my issue was the result of an incorrect installation. Best Buy is an authorized retailer of Thermador appliances. f. Thermador has been totally dismissive about this issue -When I contacted Thermador customer service following the repair, they appeared unconcerned that this could have caused a fire and were dismissive regarding the uncanny similarity of my issue with the existing recall. They were also unresponsive after my initial call on 6/14/2019. I was told that I would be contacted within 48 hours after my initial call to further discuss the issue once my case file had been reviewed (that Thermador case number was [REDACTED]). I never received a call back and contacted them again on 6/21/2019 only to be told dismissively “sorry, the unit is out of warranty.” I indicated at that time that I would be reporting this to the CPSC and filing a small claims suit related to this issue.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any additional questions related to this matter. My obvious concern is that there are additional Thermador dishwasher units not covered by the expanded recall which present the same fire hazard. Thanks for your assistance with this matter.
Regards, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Thermador dishwasher
The power to my dishwasher went out intermittently and finally for good the other day. We pulled it out and when i touch the power cord it sparked and nearly shocked me and then it shorted out.

The product, in the report: Thermador dishwasher model DWHD440MFP/07, serial FD9511, production code 00513
I’m reporting an electrical fire caused by my Thermador Dishwasher that is NOT under recall. The dishwasher would stop running mid-cycle due to a tripping the breaker. This last time, the breaker did not trip and the dishwasher did not power back on. I removed the dishwasher and noticed a melted electrical wire at the Thermador junction box and significant burn marks in the wall where the junction box was placed. I’m reporting this incident because my unit is NOT covered under the recall.

The product, in the report: Thermador Dishwasher Model # DWHD640JFP/D5
On April 19, 2017, we tried to start our new Thermador dishwasher (Model # DWHD640JFP/D5) for the first time. After the tub filled with water, the unit started beeping and stopped. We opened the door and water was leaking out of the unit onto the floor. This created a potential electrical hazard as the water was running towards other appliances and electrical outlets. Error code on inside of dishwasher indicated “E24” (drain line problem) and “E22” (sump problem) even though the unit has never been used before.
On April 26, 2017, an authorized technician came to repair the unit and we were told it needed a new drain pump and circuit board. To date, these parts have not been sent to the service provider. Our new dishwasher now has mold inside because we have been unable to successfully drain the water (using a wet/dry vacuum) from the drain/sump assembly at the bottom of the tub.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
This caller purchased his dishwasher in March 2011 and had no problems with it until the first few months of 2013 when he noticed that it wasn’t turning off when the cycle completed. The caller began having to check the dishwasher when he knew the cycle should be completed so that he could be sure it was off. He contacted the manufacturer in March 2013 and then in following months but couldn’t get them to send a repair tech. Around February he spoke with someone because he began to smell a burning odor. At this time the manufacturer sent a tech who said nothing was wrong with the dishwasher. Aggressive Appliance sent a tech out who diagnosed motor problems.
He finally spoke with someone with the manufacturer around February 2014 who sent a repair tech out from Topline Appliance. April 21st, 2014 this most recent tech pulled the dishwasher from the wall and both he and the caller witnessed excessive burning around the power supply in the back and going into the unit. He has been in touch since then with the manufacturer a couple of times today, April 21st, 2014 with the manufacturer asking for additional pictures.
There are no injuries being reported The caller is in touch with the manufacturer
