The product, in the report: Product is a stainless steal dishwasher. Buttons are located along the topside of the door (not visible when door is closed). Standard dishwasher size. The wheels attach to the wheel mechanisms with small round plastic “pins”. One of these pins popped off, causing the wheel to detach.
A plastic wheel on the bottom rack of the dishwasher popped off and rolled inside next to the heating element. I didn’t know it had popped off until I smelled a burning smell and the kitchen filled with smoke. I opened the dishwasher to find thick smoke and the wheel burning.

The product, in the report: Jennair stainless steel dishwasher model JDB 1105 AWS Serial number 41785757NJ
As usual the dishwasher was turned on at night to be ready to empty the next morning. The next morning the drying element never turned off causing the granite top to be hot to the touch. If we had a wood or easily combustible top we would have had a fire. A qualified appliance service man was engaged. He stated not only there needs a pc board, wire harness, and lower door seal, some parts were no longer available. It explicitly states do not use fire hazard.

The product, in the report: Jenn-Air Floating Glass Steam Option Dishwasher
Hi have a Jennair Dishwasher Model JDB1275AWY. This dishwasher failed with the heating element on causing the unit to overheat. If the machine is in the off state and the dishwasher door is closed, the heating element will turn on and continue to heat up until it reaches extremely high temperatures until it melts plastics and can combust wood.
In my case my wife burned her had removing metal tongs from the dishwasher not knowing the dishwasher had a thermal event. Additionally the unit melted down and deformed metal cups ([REDACTED] Brand), [REDACTED] spatulas and miscellaneous bowls and other utensils.
Whirlpool knew this was a possible event that could happen but because my unit was 10 years old, Whirlpool figured that this was merely normal wear and tear. If weren’t home this unit could have easily started a fire and burned down my home.

I have a jean air floating glass dishwasher. The electrical panel has broken repeatedly. Over 9 times. Jenn Air will not replace and we have had to replace out of pocket through our home warranty. The product, in the report: Jenn-Air Dishwasher JDB4000AWS Stainless Steel
Heating element on Jenn-Air dishwasher does not shut off, it causes excessive heat even when the dishwasher is off. I have turned off power at the circuit breaker. If power is turned on and the dishwasher is closed, even though it is off, the heating element becomes hot and there is burning smell. This started happening on the last wash cycle where Heated Dry was set to Off. Even after the dishwasher had turned off, the heating element turned on and the heat produced melted some of the plastic cutlery overnight.

The product, in the report: Jenn-Air dishwasher. Model JDB1090AWB, Serial Number: 36114170LE
Twice in the past 6 weeks our dishwasher has heated to the point of melting parts within the dishwasher and plastic utensils in the dishwasher. This morning the dishwasher appeared to continue to heat even though the cycle had been started at 11 pm the previous evening and the dishwasher door had been opened for several minutes this morning to allow dishes to cool.
When this happened the first time several weeks ago I checked and found out similar Jenn Air dishwasher manufactured around the time we purchased this unit were under a recall. However, when entering our model number and serial number on the Maytag site, it returned the message that our unit is not under recall. And Jenn Air, when contacted directly, denied any problems with their dishwashers.

The product, in the report: Jenn Air Dishwasher Model JDB-5 Serial # JDB1100AWS 36006964LL
Ran dishwasher overnight. Did not open it the next morning as we went to work. When returning home there was a melting plastic smell in the house. Attempted the open the dishwasher as the smell was coming from there. Had to really tug to get it open. Discovered the heating element had stayed on and had melted the rinser spinner attached to the motor, a cutting board and the bottom of the silver ware tray. 2 hours after the unit was opened the granite counter top was still warm. Since there was already a recall on this model I called the recall line to see if ours was added to this recall. Maytag directed us to have a repairman that they gave us the option of using to come out to see if there was a defect in our model.
Appliance Hospital came out and went through our unit. He said he could not find anything wrong with our unit and said it was user error. His thought, and he could not provide proof of this, was that something held the spinning arm down and the metal on the bottom of the spinner made contact with the element which kept the unit on.
First, when pulling the lower rack out we would have felt this. Second, our dishes would not have been clean if the spray was concentrated in only one area. Third, there would have been a mark on the spinner from whatever had pressed it down. Fourth, when I looked at other models as well as ours, there is not that much play in the spinner for it to come in contact with the element. Fifth, the motor would have burned up if held for 18 hours. Why was there not a safety shut off/timer for the heating element?
I do not feel that the cause of the heating element staying on for 15 hours was caused by the spinner being held in place. I also believe that the problem with our unit was not determined and because of this could be a danger to others that own the same unit.
