The product, in the report: Hotpoint HDA2100H65BB built in dishwasher, black, with manual control knob
Hotpoint HDA2100H65BB dishwasher caught fire. While trying to operate the dishwasher, the system malfunctioned, and started making a weird noise. Then I looked and saw flames coming from underneath the dishwasher. Luckily, I was able to turn the dishwasher off and flip the breaker to avoid any further damage. Damage was contained to the dishwasher only.

The product, in the report: hotpoint dishwasher, black, front controls
We moved in about 4 1/2 years ago and the dishwasher was new. In the last 3-4 months we have noticed a very strong burning smell, like burning plastic, every time the dishwasher is running on the heated dry cycle. We have checked multiple times over the past few months to verify no plastic items are on or around the heating element. We are not sure if there is a possibility of fire at some point due whatever is causing the burning smell. At times the smell is such that it can irritate our throat and cause a headache if we don’t open windows in the kitchen to ventilate the area more than normal.

The product, in the report: household dishwasher
Whenever the power goes out the next time we start the dishwasher it will run in three cycles at the same time. Wash, sanitizing and dry and will continue to run for hours until you notice that it has been running for hours. The only way to fix this is to re set the house circuit breaker. I feel this is a fire hazard and GE says it is not one of the issues they have on file. They want to charge me 308.00 for a new control board. This has been going on from 12/2004 thru current. The builder installed the dishwasher.

The product, in the report: GE dishwasher white Model number: pdw7300n15ww serial: mm718256b
Our GE dishwasher overheated last night and caused damage to our dishes and our dishwasher.
Model number: pdw7300n15ww serial: mm718256b
The counter above it was super HOT and when we opened it there was the smell of burning plastice that still remains in our house!
At first we thougth that something plastic in the dishwasher had fallen onto the heating element but later I realized that that was not the case. Instead the unit had overheated and caused plastic items to melt even from the top of the dishwasher.
