The product, in the report: Fire in door
Monogram dishwasher, model ZBD0710K10SS, Serial FL810045B. This dishwasher is under recall for possible fire in door. I have never been notified of the recall. On January 22, 2021 we experienced a fire in the dishwasher door. Called Monogram at 1800 444-1845 and reported the fire. They gave me an incident number of [REDACTED]. They send a repair service to our home and the service Rep said the dishwasher was not repairable and should be replaced. No one from Monogram called me. I called Monogram and was told they needed additional photos and information, they dispatched another repair service. On March 02 a repair service looked at the dishwasher, took more photos. He told me he would contact Monogram. Today I called (03/05/2021) Monogram and was told that they did not get the data requested. I then called the service rep and he said that he had sent info as requested. I need help to get Monogram to fix or replace this dishwasher. This was caused by a design defect.

The product, in the report: This is a GE Monogram dishwasher, stainless steel finish.
We ran our dishwasher as usual last night and woke up at 1 am to find smoke in our kitchen and the smell of burning plastic. The dishwasher was overheating and the drying cycle seemed to just not shut off as it should. Everything that was plastic in the dishwasher melted, including the bottom of the silverware basket, this plastic melted onto the heating element and could have caused a fire, were we not home.

No one hurt Made Nov 5, 2018, sent to the company Nov 14, 2018, published by CPSC Nov 29, 2018
The product, in the report: GE Monogram Dishwasher
Our GE Monogram dishwasher overheated and the heating element melted several parts of the dishwasher tray and silverware rack and even items on the top and bottom rack. The smell of burning and the extremely hot counter top alerted my husband and our dog (who started barking). When we called GE, they told us to turn off the electricity immediately and asked if anyone was hurt. Then they said our product was not a part of a recall but rather a “special program where the heating element will stay on “. They offered to replace our dishwasher for $1223 . They also said our current DW is not reparable, or useable.

The product, in the report: GE Monogram Stainless Steel Dishwasher 24 X 35
This is a GE Monogram Dishwasher - I filled it as I normally do and started the load. I left and three hours later when I returned, my house was filled with a horrible smell and smoke. When I opened the door, it was still full of water and had apparently been running the entire time. The bottom spinner was melted and the control panel on the top of the door showed signs of fire. I disconnected the power and my husband removed the door panel. The kitchen had small black particles on many of the surfaces.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
My GE Monogram Dishwasher caught fire last night. I have extensive smoke damage in my house, but thankfully we were home so we were able to prevent it from doing further damage, destroying my house or heaven forbid any injuries to our children. I called to GE to schedule service and they scheduled us for next week. However, I think looked up the produce and found that there was a recall from October 2010 because of fires exactly like what happened to us. It’s Model No. ZBD0710K10SS, Serial No. AL857043B

The product, in the report: GE Monogram Dishwasher; stainless steel. We have two of these installed in our kitchen that we use. One of them just caught on fire and we do not trust the other on as it is most likely also part of the GE recall. My family and I were forced to breath in the smoke and chemicals from the burnt/melted plastic and other components that were damaged when the heating element malfunctioned.
GE Monogram Dishwasher MOD.: ZBD6880N00SS SER.: AM772178B caught on fire in our home kitchen and melted the bottom rack and spray bar; and damaged the items in the dishwasher.
It appears the heating element functioned as a significantly higher temperature than designed; then on its own came on again while we were assessing the initial malfunction and continued to melt/burn the internal plastic components.
Our home kitchen has two GE Monogram Dishwashers installed that we use and the other one is MOD.: ZBD0710N20SS SER.: MR817543B.

The touch pad is no longer working. The machine would sometime come on by itself making beeping noises like it was making selections for cycles and then eventually the touch pad just stop working. We had our home warranty company come out and replace the touch pad the week of 11/1 and one week later the touch pad stopped working again. We were then advised by are home warranty company that there was a recall on this part causing this to go back and to potentially cause a fire. www.cpsc.gov/recalls/2011/ge-recalls-dishwashers-due-to-fire-hazard

The product, in the report: GE Monogram dishwasher ZBD6880K15SS.
Our GE Monogram dishwasher was running. We left the house and when we returned, we smelled something burning. We isolated the issue to our dishwasher. When I opened the dishwasher, I noticed that the coil had gotten so hot that it melted the plastic racks and the rotating disk where the water comes from as well. Our model number is ZBK6880K15SS and the Serial Number is TL952673B. We noticed that there had been a recall on several similar dishwashers, but ours was not on the list of those recalled. Our incident is exactly similar to the description for those dishwashers that were recalled, so it seems weird that ours was excluded.

The product, in the report: Built in dishwasher installed under countertop. with wood cabinetry on both sides and standard gypsum wallboard behind.
On about March 30, 2016 during operation of the dishwasher noticeable amounts of smoke and smell of electronics overheating were emitted from the appliance even though it continued to operate. Upon opening the dishwasher, smoke continued to be emitted from the small (approximately one inch by two inch latch closure opening at the top center of the door for about ten minutes. The device was separately disabled via breaker since every time the door was closed the appliance began operation again and smoke once again became visible along with the smell. The front panel of the door was too hot too touch about 6 to 12 inches from the top of the door and about the same distance toward the center from side to side.
Upon commencing of repairs, the control module ASM GE P/N 165D7305G004 (manufactured by Computime LTD as P/N 663C and reprogrammed by GE) was discovered to have burned through the wiring harness connector in the center of the module and the module showed significant burn through, thermal cracks and charring of the case at both the front and the back.

The product, in the report: GE Monogram Series dishwasher
This report concerns a GE Monogram dishwasher, Model ZBD6880N00SS, Serial Number ZM764927B. We were awoken the morning of the event at 3:00 AM to a home full of smoke and fumes which seemed to be burning plastic. After frantically searching the house for the most obvious possible sources (stove, oven, heater) we noticed that the counter top above the dishwasher was extremely hot and the smoke was coming from beneath the enclosure. We opened the dishwasher and were hit by a gust of heat and billowing smoke and fumes. The control panel showed that the unit was in the ON position and HEATED DRY, although we had not turned on the dishwasher before going to bed. We tried repeatedly to turn off the machine using the control panel but it would not respond. We finally ran outside and turned off the circuit breaker that controlled the dishwasher circuit. The bottom pan of the dishwasher was filled with melted plastic (much of it from components of the dishwasher itself) and the plastic was covering and in direct contact with the heating element. We scraped as much of the molten plastic away from the elements as possible as it continued to burn and emit noxious fumes. We were able to evacuate the smoke using our vent hood, exhaust fans, and air conditioning unit, although this took quite some time. The granite counter top remained very hot to the touch for a good while after we disconnected the power to the unit as were the surrounding kitchen cabinets. Had this occurred when we were not home I fear that combustion would have occurred and we may have lost our house. We contacted GE about the event and were offered a partial discount on a new unit. We feel that this model is inherently dangerous as the control panel failed and the circuit closed with no human interaction.

The product, in the report: The dishwasher is a GE Monogram. Model ZBD6880N20SS. Serial AR801366B.
We woke up to a horrible, toxic smell. The smell of plastic melting. The dishwasher’s heating element had come on during the night, melting any meltable plastic. This included the silverware tray, several plastic items in the top rack, and all of the plastic rotating arms. The latter were in a heap at the bottom as a melted pile of gray goo. The interior was far too hot to touch. Leaving the door open to cool didn’t work, as the heating element stayed on. The heating element came on during the night while the dishwasher was closed but turned off. Had we been away on a trip, we are totally convinced this failure would have caused a fire.

I have the monogram dishwasher model zbd6890k011 serial number fl748637b. For the last few times I’ve used the dishwasher, I was able to smell something burning. Dishwasher circuit board caught on fire, with smoke coming from dishwasher door.
We immediately disconnected the electricity, unscrewed the front door, and took out the scorched, smoldering electronics board.
Had we not caught the situation early due to strong smell of burning plastics, the house would have been in clear danger of catching fire.

The product, in the report: GE Monogram dishwasher, model ZBD6880N00SS
Our GE Monogram dishwasher (model ZBD6880N00SS, purchased September 2007) would not stop running after many hours and we had to turn off the circuit breaker in order to stop it. On opening the door, we noted signs of scorching along the control panel at the top of the door, and an acrid smell that permeated the house for the rest of the day. The dishes inside were unaffected, so it would not seem to have been a case of the heating element staying on. There was no water in the tub, but the motor was continuing to run. There does not seem to be any recall describing this particular problem.

The product, in the report: under counter dishwasher
The consumer is not sure when the dishwasher was installed in the condominium unit. She estimates that the condo units were built approximately 10 years ago. The consumer moved into the home approximately 2011. (2012) The computer control panel along the top of the dishwasher shut off and went completely blank. The consumer called the manufacturer’s repair department at that time. She said that the mfr’s rep. did not mention any information about a recall. A manufacturer’s technician was sent out during that time and he repaired/replaced some parts in the dishwasher. The dishwasher worked properly after the repair. The consumer paid $365.00 for that repair. (3/24/15) The consumer experienced the exact same type of problem as in 2012. The computer control panel along the top of the dishwasher stopped working and went blank. The consumer called the manufacturer’s repair department, but she indicated that she was never informed of a recall by the rep. The consumer mentioned that she heard that the dishwasher may be under a recall and that is when a rep. told her that they could send a technician out to look at it and the rep. confirmed that the dishwasher was included in Recall# 11-022. (3/25/15) The consumer relayed the information over to her landlord. Since this was the 2nd instance of the identical problem with this dishwasher and the fact that it was previously serviced for Recall# 11-022, the landlord opted for the $400.00 rebate on the dishwasher. (3/26/15) The consumer called the manufacturer back and indicated that she would take the rebate. The rep. sent the consumer an email with the $400 rebate voucher. NOTE: (date unknown) The superintendent of the building informed the consumer that they had all of the dishwashers in the condominium complex serviced back in 2010 under Recall# 11-022. The consumer also pointed out that the superintendent told her that they have had multiple problems with the dishwashers in the community, since they were serviced under Recall# 11-022. A green sticker was placed on every dishwasher in the community to indentify that they had been serviced for the recall issue. The consumer believes that she should not have had to pay for the repair that was done in 2012, since it appeared to present the exact same problem that was supposedly fixed by the recall repair. (3/27/15) The consumer called the manufacturer and she spoke with [REDACTED](Case Manager) & [REDACTED](Supervisor). The consumer has been assigned Case # [REDACTED]. [REDACTED]told the consumer that since she has a green sticker on the dishwasher, they had to revoke the rebate offer, because the repair had already been performed. The consumer said that she was never informed she couldn’t have the rebate. The consumer said that the manufacturer’s rep’s did not have any record of the dishwasher being repaired based on the model & serial number and she was never informed of the recall, even when they charge her $365.00 for her previous repair. The consumer also spoke with [REDACTED]and she was told that they he had never dealt with a situation like this before (1 different tenant paid for a repair on one of their products, when the recall service was done for the previous person living in the home). The consumer finds that extremely odd and especially with people in her condominium complex or any apartment complex, who may have had these dishwashers. The consumer said that [REDACTED]indicated that they only retrieved recall information by consumer’s names. [REDACTED] also reiterated that they had to revoke her recall rebate based on the prior recall service and nothing else was offered.
The consumer is extremely concerned about potential electrical and fire safety issues with her dishwasher.

The product, in the report: GE MONOGRAM BUILT-in dishwasher. Model #ZBD0710N20SS SERIAL # DR741121B
I purchased a GE monogram dishwasher model #ZBD0710N20SS serial number DR741121B on 18 February 2008 from The Home Depot Company. This Morning (15 March 2015) I awoke to to an extremely hot kitchen dishwasher with a melted interior rack, and an appliance drying/heating cycle that would not turn off. I have checked the GE recall list, but our specific Model # is not currently on the recall list.
I am sure, given the amount of damage (melting) to the interior of the dishwasher and the untouchable temperature of the glassware and plates inside, that a fire would have started if I had not come downstairs early in the morning.
Clearly a short circuit or other electrical failure has occurred and GE currently will not acknowledge it for this specific model, though they have recalled similar models for similar failure.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
Caller stated that her dishwasher was part of Release #11-022. The unit received the recalled remedy on 11/22/2010, however, after 2 years of the replacement part she experienced the same problems of the recall. Hazard: Water condensation can drip onto the electronic control board, causing a short circuit and resulting in an overheated connector. This poses a fire hazard to consumers.
12/8/13 The dishwasher while in use started to emit black smoke, she was unable to power it off from the control panel, she had to use the circuit breaker to switch it off. If the circuit breaker is switched back on the dishwasher starts to emit smoke immediately.
12/10/13 The manufacturer was contacted and she was informed that they are not aware of the problem. She feels that the replacement part did not resolve the problem and she does not feel that they should send her the same technician to work on the problem. She feels that this part should be recalled as well.

The product, in the report: Custom built in automatic dishwasher.
Our GE Monogram dishwasher was not in use. Overnight it turned on by it self and overheated causing the entire first floor of our house to be “fogged” with toxic melted plastic fumes and the stench of burnt plastic. This unit is approximately 5 years old, was new and installed by the builder at the time of our ownership. Almost every plastic part in the unit was melted and pooled in the bottom of the wash area. Multiple plates, bowls, glasses and silverware are coated in plastic and unsalvageable. There is no trace of 3 plastic cups that were in the top rack. The entire top rack support system had melted causing the rack to fall and rest on the remains of the lower rack. The entire area around the DW was extremely hot, granite counter top, 3 sides of wood cabinetry and the wall behind and above the unit.

The product, in the report: General Electric Monogram Dishwasher
My General Electric Monogram dishwasher caught fire and burned last night during normal usage. The machine is not located in the main building of our home and so the problem went undetected all night. When we opened the door this morning, the machine was still running and hot and the there was no way to turn it off except through the circuit breaker. The dishes and plates were scorched and blackened. The heating element was shattered and burned up. All of the plastic parts inside the dishwasher were melted and stringy. General Electric said this model is not on the recall list though they have tens of thousands of recalled dishwashers all with same reported problem. They told me I should report the problem to CPSC. It is urgent that these machines be recalled before people are hurt or killed in a house fire caused by these malfunctioning machines.

Ge monogram dishwasher was running. It began to smoke out the front. We were about to leave the house. I was puzzled and turned it off and on by opening and closing the door. Even more smoke started coming out. I turned it off at the circuit breaker. I looked on line and discovered the model and serial number were recalled due to fire hazard. No injury. Just very dangerous. We had no idea this was recalled.

The product, in the report: GE Monogram Dishwasher (Model ZBD0710N00S Serial SM861634B).
On Tuesday, Sept 18, 2012, we ran a wash cycle on our GE Monogram Dishwasher (Model ZBD0710N00S Serial SM861634B). After it was finished we unloaded it and put in a few new items. Two of which were plastic.
15 minutes later we smelled smoke in the house. We searched until we opened the dishwasher and found the origin.
All the buttons on the control panel implied the system was off however the heating element at the bottom of the unit was very hot. It melted the hard plastic tupper ware items, causing the smoke, and damaged the metal items in the dishwasher as well as damaging the dishwashers bottom spray arm.
We did finally get it off by some unknown action.
However, an hour later we started to smell something again and it appeared the unit had come back on at which time we flipped the circuit breaker.
I went on the web and found a GE recall for monogram dishwashers with model number ZBD0710K00 (note the ...KOO while our is ...NOO).
So this model is not under recall, but it surely should be.
I went back and have flipped the circuit breaker again to do some more evidence gathering, and the heating element came on yet again.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
GE Monogram Dishwasher from about 2007 or 2008. Two problems: 1) when door is opened, it begins to fill up with water; this has gotten progressively worse over time, and 2) recently, the heating element did not shut off after the dishwasher cycle should have ended. There is apparently a recall of GE Dishwashers that matches the time I bought mine, but my model is not covered; however, the reason for the recall and my problem with the heating element seem similar.

The product, in the report: GE Monogram dishwasher - stainless steel
We have a GE Monogram dishwasher. Last night while falling asleep my husband smelled something burning. We went all over the house and realized it was coming from the kitchen as there was smoke. We then heard a weird noise and I realized it was from the dishwasher that I had turned on before we went up to bed. When I opened the dishwasher, tons of smoke came out and there were a lot of sparks and it looked like there was a fire. My husband called the fire department. When they came they took the front panel off the door, and saw that the control panel had burned up. They said if we had not stopped it in time, the cabinet and then kitchen would have caught on fire. The stench in our house last night and still this morning (as I am writing this) is terrible. It smells like plastic burning. I have opened up windows to try and air out the house and any smoke that may be left. I called GE appliance repair and then are sending a repairman out tomorrow, April 27, to take a look at it. They also sent me to a Consumer Relations person who has opened up a case. My husband just saw on your site that there have been incidents of a fire with the model of our dishwasher.
