The product, in the report: GE dishwasher in Slate color with stainless steel tub. Standard size, house hold use, used approximately 2 times per week.
Dishwasher was set to run a normal cycle around 9PM and we woke up 3hrs later to the smell of plastic burning. The lower spray arm was out of place and resting on top of the heating coil with plastic dripping into the bottom. Plastic cups on the TOP rack were melted, There wasn’t any water to be seen in the dishwasher and it was very hot inside and no steam as would be expected at the end of a wash cycle. Dishwasher never ran a wash cycle, food was baked on; it was set to not run a dry cycle.

The product, in the report: GE dishwasher
On Friday, October 16, 2015 our General Electric Andora dishwasher (part number 165D843G006) had a short on the circuit board of its control panel that resulted in a fire that filled our house with smoke. According to the firefighters that responded, if we had run the unit at night with the delayed start feature there was a good chance the resulting fire would of spread and caused property damage and possible loss of life. The St. Johns County (Florida) Fire/Rescue service responded and made a report of the incident.

The product, in the report: GE Adora Stainless Steel Built in Dishwasher. Model GHDF360R10SS SER. SS718973B
My wife had a load of dishes in our GE Adora Stainless steel dishwasher. Model GHDF360R10SS SER SS718973B. I could smell something hot or burning in the kitchen. It was coming from the area near the dishwasher. It had a hot rubber or plastic smell. The dishwasher was in the middle of a rinse and hold cycle. I stopped the cycle and opened the door and could feel very hot air filled with some smoke coming from the dishwasher. The dishes were so hot that you could not touch them without being burned. Too hot to unload the dishes. I let them cool down and after inspecting the bottom of the dishwasher i could see that the lower arm spray assembly had one side of it melted off. The tip was melted into two pieces only being held by the metal. plate on the underside. I have ordered a part to replace the part that is ruined. Part PS2339990 at the cost of $69.62. l feel uneasy about running this dishwasher due to the extreme heat that was coming from the unit. If this would have happened when we were both out of the house at work, it may have turned into a serious incident. We will be washing dishes by hand until we resolve this issue. I have checked online and found a recall from GE on Adora dishwashers due to fire. The model number on our unit did not match the recalled product numbers, but I do not know if there is a expanded recall for this product. No personal injury has occurred due to this incident.

The product, in the report: GE ADORA DISHWASHER MODEL GHDA670N00BB
Two weeks ago we awoke to a strange smell in the house, and discovered the heating element in our GE Adora dishwasher model GHDA670N00BB had come on during the night and stayed on all night long. We had to turn off the circuit breaker to get it to stop. Last night, as soon as we started the dishwasher and it began to fill with water, gray smoke started pouring from the door vent along with a strong smell of burning plastic. We immediately shut off the breaker and have not used it since.

The product, in the report: GE Adora QuietPower3 dishwasher
The wiring in the control panel within the front panel of my dishwasher caught on fire. The stainless steel panel became too hot to touch and extensive white smoke, smelling of burning plastic, filled the kitchen.
I was able to turn off the dishwasher and open the door to allow it to cool and vent. I then removed the front panel to discover extensive burnt wires and plastic in the control panel.
