Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 8, 2012, sent to the company Oct 16, 2012, published by CPSC Oct 30, 2012
The product, in the report: Electrolux under-counter dishwasher with a stainless steel front, 120 volt, 60 hz, 1.1amp motor
I purchased an Electrolux undercounter style dishwasher and installed it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Everytime water would drip from the counter and land onto the control panel, the dishwasher would short-circuit. The control panel (that is used to select dishwashing cycles and option) was not sufficiently waterproof to prevent water from entering the unit and shorting out the electronic circuit board. As a result of this poor design and defect, the dishwasher would routinely trip the circuit breaker.
Each time the unit would get even the slightest amount of water on or near the control panel, I would have to wait for the unit to air dry. The final time that the unit failed, while selecting a cycle on the control panel I received a small electric shock. After turning the unit off at the circuit breaker, the unit would not work again when tested and was discarded.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
Caller started dishwasher but within 5 to 10 minutes smoke began coming out of the front panel then flames as high as 12 inches were coming out of same area.
Caller pressed “cancel” very quickly and immediately unplugged the dishwasher.
There were no injuries.
She has not contacted the manufacturer and does not intend to contact them.
She has not contacted the manufacturer, she called only local repair in February 2012. Repair replaced the circuit board after advising caller that it was completely burned out.
The third week in July she started the dishwasher, she saw smoke coming from the front panel, turned it off, disconnected it and contacted CPSC to report.
She is in possession of this dishwasher but has already purchased another dishwasher that will be delivered August 11th, 2012.
She is reporting for the publics safety.

The product, in the report: under the counter stainless steel dishwasher
While the dishwasher was not in use when he the consumer noticed a electric burning odor. The consumer did not see any smoke coming from the appliance. When he got closer to the dishwasher that was when he noticed that the odor was at its strongest.
The circuit breaker was powered in the off position. The consumer indicated that he had not used the appliance in over a month when the failure occurred. He opened the door to the dishwasher and did not see any damages inside.
On 2/26/2012 the consumer hired a private electrician to take a look at the appliance. The electrician advised the consumer to leave the circuit breaker off and not use the dishwasher because it posed as a fire hazard.
The firm was contacted on 2/27/2012 and the consumer was advised that he would be required to pay to have a service technician come out. The consumer declined and stated that he will not make any repairs to the appliance but instead will replace it.
The circuit breaker is still powered in the off position and he has not attempted to use the appliance since the failure occurred.

The product, in the report: Diswasher
Dear Electrolux: You will find enclosed the controlling circuit board from my dishwasher, along with the model numberserial number sticker affixed to the appliance by Electrolux. (Model No. PLDB998CCO, Serial No. TH34268305) The reason that I have enclosed the board is that last Wednesday evening, August 16, 2011, the circuit board shorted out and arced at the post labeled P5 on the board. Flames began to shoot out of the door panel of the dishwasher, and had I not been in my kitchen at the time of the incident, able to immediately extinguish the flames and cut off the power to the unit, the repercussions could have been terrible. Since the dishwasher is out of warranty, I cannot say that I am surprised that the appliance failed, for that seems the state of manufacture these days -nothing is built to last anymore. However, there is really no excuse in my mind for the circuitry to have caused a fire in the unit. I hope that you will have the board evaluated to try to determine the cause of the fire, so that if there is a systemic problem, you can alert other purchasers of this model and correct the issue. In the interest of protecting other owners of this model, I am copying the Consumer Product Safety Commission, who can determine if this problem is widespread or of particularly acute concern.
Since we own several other Electrolux appliances, from microwave, to range to fridge, to vacuum, I hope that this problem was indeed an anomaly and not an indication of generally poor manufacturing standards. I am, frankly terrified to think otherwise and hope that you will afford this matter the attention that it deserves. My family has been loyal to the Electrolux brand for many years and you should want to keep us that way.

The product, in the report: Electrolux Dishwasher Model: PLDB998cc0 Serial: TH30531647
While not in use there was a fire that started in my dishwasher.
After taking it apart, I found the cause to be the mother/circuit board of the unit
The only way to shut it down was shutting it off at the circuit breaker that my wife who was home with my kids had to figure out quickly that it was burning
Is there some kind of safety recall that the the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have put out for this unit?
