The product, in the report: BSH Home Appliances Corp. Bosch Dishwasher Model SHU43C05/17
A Bosch dishwasher installed when our house was built in 2004 burst into fire in the middle of a washing cycle. The fire produce intense smoke that triggered our fire alarm system. A fire dept. crew of [REDACTED], responded. Fire was contained quickly but not before a piece of burning plastic fell to the floor causing some damage. There was no injury to my wife or I, except for the intense, bad smelling, potentially toxic smoke that caused some respiratory discomfort. We have, only now, found out that our same dishwasher make and model, was recalled for electrical cable overheating, in 2009. We were never contacted by the manufacturer on this recall despite having registered our unit.

Hurt, no treatment Made Mar 29, 2016, sent to the company Apr 6, 2016, published by CPSC Apr 20, 2016
The product, in the report: Bosch dishwasher model number SHP65TL5UC
The recessed handle on my Bosch dishwasher has broken and been replaced repeatedly in the 6 months since I have purchased it. Online reviews indicate that this is a widespread problem with this model and that Bosch is refusing to admit there is a structural problem, only agreeing to replace the plastic handle insert until the 1-year warranty runs out.
When the handle breaks, it creates sharp shards that create a cutting risk. When the handle crumbles completely, as they all eventually have, they create an opening for water to enter the electronics and create a fire hazard.

The product, in the report: Siemens dishwasher stainless steel model #SL34A015UC/29 Serial # fd8605 00501
solder joint burned up on Siemens dishwasher SL34a015uc/29, serial fd8605 00501. There is a recall on units like this with lower serial numbers but on this unit. I believe the recall should be extended to this unit also. It has the same issue as the recalled units. The control board got hot enough to melt the solder joint that the heater relay connects to. thanks [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Jun 29, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 26, 2011
The product, in the report: under the counter dishwasher
earlier in the day, the dishwasher ran though an entire cycle without actually washing the dishes, but did indicate “CL”, which means that the cycle was complete. The dishwasher was placed in the on position on regular wash towards the end of the cycle which is a 92 minutes long she noticed an odd odor. She attempted to open the dishwasher door by moving the latch and it was extremely hot to the touch.
The dishwasher was still running she could hear it operating in the inside of the dishwasher but however there was no power to the control panel. When the cycle is complete the control panel would light up CL indicating that the cycle was complete.
She attempted to hit a button to start the dishwasher and the control panel began to light up displaying various different number. She then powered the circuit breaker in the off position in which it still remains.
She contacted the firm on 6/29/2011 and was advised by the representative that she spoke with (name not provided) that her model number was not included in the recall (see Release #09-100) and she was provided with the number to their third party repair company.
She contacted the third party company (name of company not provided) she was advised that she would be required to pay $100.00 out of pocket to have a repairman come out to diagnose the problem. She indicated that she did not want to invest in any repairs on the dishwasher but would rather replace it.
