The product, in the report: Electric Can Opener
The consumer indicates that he was using his can opener when he noticed a filament that looked like a curly hair inside the can. When he inspected it closely with a magnifying glass, he realized it was a metal piece that had came off the can when he was using the can opener. The consumer’s wife also verified that it was a small sliver of metal. The consumer is concerned others could inadvertently swallow metal.
The consumer e-mailed the company via their online form however he has yet to hear from them.
The consumer states that the unit was used two to three times per week.
The consumer plans on keeping his can opener for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: ELECTRIC CAN OPENER
I was in need of a new can opener as my wife was unable to easily use a manual opener any longer. We checked around and found a good deal at Kroger on a Proctor Silex 75217F. My wife liked the product and we thought all was well. Unfortunately during dinner I got choked. After a period of time I was able to get out of my throat what had become stuck. It in fact was not food but a micro thread size strand of metal. I looked around and found that this can opener is leaving micro, near invisible very sharp metal strands around the lid and they are falling into the can when you open them. This was an incredibly dangerous and scary situation. This did hurt the inside of my throat and I am incredibly fortunate that it did not go any lower and I was able to get it out. I thought maybe it was the can that it opened so I tried other cans and I ended up opening other cans and they ALL did the same thing. I truly believe this should result in an immediate recall of this product.
