The product, in the report: Popcorn Machine Model UE40010
We have a wonderful popcorn machine that did a strange thing just tonight. We had the light on (only), warming up some popcorn in our great popcorn machine that we purchased from you a couple of years ago (in 2008-2009 timeframe), and it nearly burnt our house down--a large fireball and a great deal of smoke that began to fill our house until the short completely burned the wire out and it disconnected. After we successfully disconnected the machine from power and eliminated the fire hazard, I noted that the cable leading to the popping pot shorted somehow and melted inside the connector that is between the closed top of the unit and the inside of the glass area. I have the burner disconnected now, and have verified that the switches to the turner and the light are unaffected, and the lights and turner still operate. So the problem was with the wire going from the wiring harness to the popping pot. The Popcorn Machine was sold to us by Great American Popcorn company in late 2008 or early 2009. The model number is UE40010.
