The product, in the report: Rhino 24’ Hot Foot Climbing stick, RTSL-24, 6 sticks each 4’ long, 300 # capacity and ASTM standards.
One of the steps on a Rhino climbing stick (RTSL-24, hot foot climbing stick) broke at the weld joint, which caused the user to fall a short distance and suffer torso abrasion. There are 3 intended weld joints attaching the step to the stem, however 2 joints showed no weld penetration which led to the failure. The weld joint failure occurred while the climbing stick was being first installed. Fortunately the user was utilizing a linesman belt. Injury occurred from the user falling due to the step failure and subsequently contacting the steel climbing stick. Feradyne is the parent company for Rhino stands.
