No one hurt Made Feb 16, 2022, sent to the company Feb 22, 2022, published by CPSC Mar 8, 2022
The product, in the report: Double hung vinyl windows manufactured by Polaris, color is white, product #10-1486518 Schedule:16473 Batch 14 /Bin: 44 /Unit ID: 535 Polaris 8000 series
I pricked my finger while feeling the edges of the handles on my new Polaris windows. I let the window company know about the sharp jagged edges, they offered to file them down. These edges are on all 6 of my newly installed windows. I’m concerned that a child at eye level could really hurt themselves or anyone that approaches the handle from the wrong position could cut themselves. The jagged and sharp edges can penetrate a carrot and any flesh like objects. If I hadn’t been so observant of the edges I could have really hurt myself.

The product, in the report: Windows
Caller is reporting that the new double hung windows that were installed in his home have sharp edges on the handles and on the corners at the top as well. He stated that he feels that if a child should touch these handles it would cause injuries. The company was contacted and they advised him that they were unable to replace the windows, he may have to file the sharp edges down.
Caller stated that the option is not acceptable and that this is a safety hazard that should be addressed.
