The product, in the report: 801 Series Double Hung (Vertical Slider) Vinyl/Dual Glazed Low E/Argon/Grids
I would like to report a safety issue with Hayfield Windows, 801 Series Double Hung. When these windows are made, there is a cut out in a plastic strip in the top outside edge of the lower window to allow the locking bracket of the top window to slide by and be engaged by the locking mechanism on the bottom window. The corner edges of this cutout are VERY sharp and easily puncture a finger when tilting the window in for cleaning. The first time my wife tilted one of these windows in, she punctured her finger and caused bleeding. Company notified ([REDACTED]-Service manager-[REDACTED]) on Jun 14, 2012 and stated “they had never had a problem” with this issue before. Solution is to simply round off the corners of the cutout to eliminate the sharp points.
