The product, in the report: Soundproof windows supplied by the Department of Aviation through the Residential Soundproof Project
I am a resident of Chicago’s Midway Airport area. In 2013 the Department of Aviation provided soundproof windows and doors for my home through their Residential Soundproofing Program. In 2016 I began to get an odor from these windows during the daytime and more noticeably when the sun is directly on my house. The odor was so intense that it made my family physically sick. In 2017 it was discovered that the windows were off gassing. We do not know what harmful chemicals the windows are off gassing and my family is being exposed to.

The product, in the report: soundproof windows supplied by the Department of Aviation through the Residential Soundproof Project
I am a resident of [REDACTED] Airport area. In 2013, the Department of Aviation graciously provided new soundproof windows and door through their Residential Soundproofing Program. In 2016, some of the residents began noticing a very strong odor/gas filling our homes. In July 2017, it was discovered that it was the windows that were off gassing. The intensity of the “fumes” correlates with the intensity of the sun. Gets so bad that it takes my breath away and eyes begin to water. We do not know what chemicals the windows are off gassing.
