The product, in the report: PELLA Series 250 patio sliding door

I contracted with Lowe’s to have a new Pella Sliding patio door installed. The installers took out the old door and fit the new one. They new door was missing a part....the rollers for the slide. This install was last Wed May 31st and since then I have been unable to get put of my house on the North side. If I have a fire in my kitchen I. The middle of the home, I will have no way to get out except try to call out a window. I am 69 years old and believe this situation to be a safety issue and violation of fire codes. I am being passed around between Pella, Lowe’s, and [REDACTED] for 6 days now and cannot get any resolution.

The product, in the report: Pella Storm Door

Storm door jammed. Friend doing wellness check unable to access property due to jammed door. The metal trim at the base of the door had lodged behind the metal lip of the door frame, making the door inoperable. Luckily I was okay inside, but this is a dangerous issue if someone is attempting to assist an older adult or child in distress and cannot gain access due to door jammed shut.

Friend attempted this morning to do a wellness check on me. The friend was unable to open the storm door as the metal trim at base of the door was jammed behind the metal lip of the door frame. To remediate, I bent trim from inside, and then sawed off.

UPDATED ON 2/7/2023: [ Inoperable door is also a hazard due to inability to access or egress property in case of fire.]

The product, in the report: Patio Sliding Door Serial number: P0611048253 - there are more numbers etched on the glass which are indiscernible.

The consumer indicates that it snowed approximately four inches in his hometown and all grounds were covered in it. The consumer tried to open his patio sliding door to go outside however it would not budge as the track that the door slides on is located outside of his home and was blocked by the wet snow.

The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke to informed him they could not assist him as that was the design of the door.

The consumer notes his previous sliding doors had the track inside his home thus he never experienced this issue. The consumer is concerned because the door could leave him and his family trapped inside in an emergency.

The consumer plans on keeping the sliding door for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
