  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 28, 2013, sent to the company May 6, 2013, published by CPSC May 28, 2013

The product, in the report: Tempered glass shower door, 3/8” thickness, style of glass is that which is in most doctors’ reception area windows..

On Friday morning, April 26, 2013, I was about to draw a bath. The bathtub is enclosed by a 2 panel, tempered-glass shower door. I was completely undressed and shoeless. I leaned over and turned on the tub faucet (just for detail sake..tub faucet was left-sided as you face the tub and shower doors were both completely positioned to the right) and, suddenly, one panel of the shower door shattered and completely collapsed into a million pieces, like a glass waterfall. Thankfully I managed to escape the room unharmed. While the majority of pieces were quite small, a few pieces were as large or larger than a [REDACTED] cup. I photographed the aftermath of this event as well as the pieces with the [REDACTED] cup for size reference. Also, I feel that it is relevant to say that this bathtub is rarely used for baths or showers. In fact, this was the first time the tub/shower was being used this year!. However, the tub and shower doors are cleaned weekly. Also relevant to this incident is that I was home alone (no one was in the room with me) and I had nothing in my hands when the collapse occurred. There are no small children in our home. My husband and I are in our mid-50’s.
