The product, in the report: Ideal Door Traditional 9’ x 8’ White Insulated Garage Door
Purchased 3 Ideal Door (clopay) 9’ x 8’ Garage doors for our new garage November 2023, from Menards. They were installed Spring 2024. One of the garage doors came down May 2024. The locking tabs on the winding unit sheared off. Luckily I was not directly under the door when it came down. The door has creases in it from the crash. Their customer service gave me a “one time courtesy replacement” after arguing back and forth and them blaming the failure on installation error . All three doors were installed exactly per the manufacturers instructions. I sent them detailed photos of the part. It is a plastic piece. Yes, cheap plastic that is trusted to hold the full force of a wound spring. This part should be all metal. The manufacturer probably saved 25 cents by making this part out of plastic.
