The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: The Enduro Fence Ground Socket is made of a white plastic-like material and is approximately 12 inches long. A “fence ground socket” is a small, usually plastic, tube-like piece that is installed in the ground, allowing one to easily insert and remove fence posts quickly, providing extra stability to the fence while enabling temporary removal for tasks like mowing or event setup;essentially, it’s a secure anchor point for the fence post that can be easily taken in and out of the ground as needed.

My client is the Plaintiff in a personal injury case. He suffered an injury due to a fence socket that was inconspicuously protruding from the ground on a sports field. The socket was an Enduro Fence Ground Socket that had been installed in the ground on a field at Huntington Beach Sports Complex in Huntington Beach, CA. No fence was installed in the socket at the time of injury. The socket edges had cracked and become sharp from unknown causes (possibly lawn mowers, vehicle tires or being stepped on). The Plaintiff, who is a minor child, was playing soccer on the field and did not see the socket. During the soccer game, he slid on the grass and made contact with the sharp edges of the protruding fence socket, which caused him to suffer a horizontal laceration to his left knee that was 4cm in length and grossly contaminated with cut grass. The injury required sutures and left a permanent scar.
