The product, in the report: Sold on Amazon as “Probrico Privacy Door Knob with Lock”. It’s an interior locking door knob (we have the passage knobs as well, but those haven’t failed yet, Amazon reviews indicate they may in the future)
This is the second such occasion that one of our door knobs (sold on Amazon as “Probrico Privacy Door Knob with Lock”) has had the latch mechanism fail internally. The lock is unlocked and the door knob turns, but the latch will not retract leaving you stuck outside of a room. No injuries occurred, but it’s easy to think what could happen if you get trapped on the other side of a door from your child or if there is a fire, or if you simply aren’t strong enough to break the door handle off to escape.
