The product, in the report: Porcelain Mirror Pivots. These are connectors that allow a mirror to be connected to a wall but allow the mirror to be adjusted. The pivots hold the mirror approximately 2 inches from the wall and thus allow users to slightly tilt the mirror up or down.
We purchased a new set of C.R. Lawrence porcelain mirror pivots from Glassware Pro (an on-line supplier) on December 9, 2012 and installed the pivots to hang a mirror on our main bathroom wall on December 28 2012. The C.L. Lawrence sales information states the pivots are rated to hold a mirror weighting up to 30 pounds. A mirror, weighing 22 pounds, was installed with hangers that exceeded the manufacturers requirements. The mirror was up approximately 2 weeks when on January 10, 2013 at approximately 9:30 at night the entire mounting assembly suddenly gave way from the wall and the mirror fell to the floor. Large pieces of razor sharp plate glass and glass shards were propelled through the air upon floor impact. We were fortunate that no one was injured when the mirror fell. Sharp glass shards and glass pieces were thrown up to 10 feet from where the mirror impacted.
