The product, in the report: 12mm laminate flooring - Batavia style - Ebony finish
Recently we heard a news program report that the retail chain, [REDACTED] has been selling laminate flooring possibly containing unsafe levels of formaldehyde. The homeowner report respiratory problems, asthma, trouble breathing, allergies. These floors were manufactured in China.
This report made us sit up at attention. Three years ago we remodeled our home and used very inexpensive laminate flooring from China. We purchased it directly from the company and the owners are Chinese. Even though these floors were reported to have passed the formaldehyde level tests for the state of California, we’re now questioning the validity of that claim. My husband and 18 year old son have been suffering with extreme asthma and allergies since these floors were installed. My 57 year old husbands respiratory problems have become so extreme that he is on many medicines and will often lose his breath and pass out. We have to find a reason for this change or a solution...until we saw this episode of 60 Minutes.
We have extra floorboards in the garage and we would love to have them tested. We believe this is the root cause of all of these medical problems, and if so, we would like to have them removed from our home immediately. I’ve looked into independent testing and it is out of our budget. Can the Consumer Protection Agency intervene and help us with this problem? Can we get our floors tested through you?
