The product, in the report: Laminate flooring: Tobacco Ridge Mix floating floor
We purchased Chinese laminate flooring from Floor & Decor last year to install in a house we purchased for my daughter and grand daughter to live in. Ever since the flooring was installed the house has had a horrible odor and they have had allergies and eye irritation. We have been trying to find out the cause and was unaware that we purchased a product that contained high levels of formaldehyde until we needed a small area of the flooring repaired in July. The installer brought it to my attention that the smell could possibly be coming from the flooring. I researched the product and SKU# to find out that this particular product was under investigation and had class action lawsuit against Floor and Decor. I was never informed of the problems and did not get to participate in the lawsuit. I filed a claim with Floor & Decor and they agreed to reimburse me for the materials (no labor). The cost of the materials is minimal compared to having it removed and reinstalled, plus what we paid to originally have it installed. We can not afford the expenses that are needed to replace the floor. They sent an inspector to the house to inspect the flooring and any other conditions that may be causing the problem They also sent samples to a lab to be tested for formaldehyde. I ask for a copy of the reports, but they refuse to send them to me. I am worried that my family is in great danger breathing in the gases long term.
