The product, in the report: Kensington Manor Laminate Floors Name: Summer Retreat

The consumer purchased the flooring from Lumber Liquidators in two parts (3/28/15 - $813.46 and 03/29/15 - $122.02).

The consumer has the flooring installed in all three bedrooms and the hallway leading to the bedrooms.

The consumer went to purchase the flooring on 3/28/15 and inquired about the safety of the flooring with the store. The store informed her that the flooring was perfectly safe and that they have had it tested by multiple people. They informed her that it was a scam against the company to affect the stocks.

Two weeks after purchase, the retailer took the flooring off of the market. The consumer called the store but no one picked. She went into the store and asked how they would assist her since they took the flooring off the market when they informed her two week ago that the flooring was safe. They informed her that they have not recalled the flooring but only stopped its sale. They asked her to call their customer service line and request an air quality test kit.

The consumer contact customer service and was sent out the test kit. She tested the air quality for 24 hours in her children’s room and sent it to an independent lab (Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory) on 5/17/15. The consumer received her test results her on 06/11/15.

The results came back with .098 ppm formaldehyde levels in the air. The consumer stated that in the letter it explains that anything above .081 ppm can lead to sensory irritation and long term health effects.

The consumer stated that she and her husband have felt heath symptoms but cannot say for sure that those symptoms are caused by the flooring.

The consumer stated that she would like to have the floorings removed from her home. The consumer has 4 children and is worried that formaldehyde will cause them health hazards over time.

The consumer stated that she is not asking the retailer to provide her refund on the cost of installation but is expecting them to refund flooring material cost. The consumer stated that she trusted the company when they informed her that it was just a scam over stocks. She stated that they offered no help once the flooring was pulled off of the market.

The product, in the report: Dream Home Kensington Manor - Warm Chesnut Springs

We installed 700 sq ft of the Chinese manufactured laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators in August of 2014. We have a two year old son who has been sick off & on since December (to the pediatrician once a month since then, ER on 3/27 for croup) and so when we heard about this, we wanted to know if ours was affected. For our own piece of mind we did an independent air test through the Wisconsin Occupational Health Lab ($91) because we wanted to know the levels of formaldehyde in our home. We’ve since received those test results back, but we can get nobody to tell us if the level is harmful to our son. The level that came back from the WOHL is 45 ppb (or .045 ppm). They stated that the FEMA federal regulation is 16 ppb...so of course to us almost triple that amount sounds dangerous. We’ve spoke to the IL EPA, IL Dept of Public Health and most recently [REDACTED], MD from the Chicago branch of the ATSDR. No one can give us a straight answer that we are looking for......do we tear out the flooring because it’s making our son sick, or is this nothing to worry about. Lumber Liquidators states they are being cooperative (which they have sent us 2 of their air quality tests as well, but those will take a month for results because they are so overwhelmed with testing) but it’s nearly impossible to talk to someone in their customer service department and they can’t give me any information on what levels they are considering toxic either. I’m really hoping that the CPSC is able to help us figure this out!!

    Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Dream Home Bolivian Mahogany Laminate Flooring

I made 2 separate purchases of the Dream Home Bolivian Mahogany Laminate Flooring in 2003 from Lumber Liquidators. One order was picked up in Atlanta, and the other in New Orleans. I emailed the company to determine he country of origin of manufacture, and was told China While I lived in the residence where the flooring was installed, I began having respiratory issues that escalated into being diagnosed with Reactive Airway Disease by a Pulmonary Specialist. After moving from the residence, which I still own, I began to improve. Only as result of the recent media information concerning the Lumber Liquidator’s laminate flooring did I realize what was posing the health risk. I was in the process of preparing the residence for resale, but need to know what to do about the flooring. I have extra fully intact flooring that could be used for testing.

The product, in the report: Laminate Flooring

This caller purchased his laminate flooring in August 2012 laid it down in home then the rest in December 2012 and laid that purchase in the same month also.

He purchased the flooring from Lumber Liquidators Oklahoma City, OK.

The flooring was manufactured in 2012.

He began having sinus issues around June 2013, he and his wife began sneezing, coughing, he has had aching around his eyes and darkening below his eyes which they believe is a direct result of having the flooring.

His symptoms are more severe and he believes that this is due to his cutting and laying the flooring.

The caller’s wife has not seen a physician.

The caller was seen by [REDACTED] who diagnosed him with fluid filled sinus cavities and scheduled a CT Scan.

He states that since January 2015 he has had three regiments of antibiotics and steroids trying to alleviate the discomfort.

He has not contacted the manufacturer and states he most likely will not due to the location being in China.
