The product, in the report: Penley Matches –box contains 250 wooden matches

Producto identificado: Dist. by Penley Corporation. PO Box 277, West Paris, Maine 04289 Made in India.

CPSC, I am a consumer and would like to report a dangerous incident involving the Penley Matches –box contains 250 wooden matches. ID: Dist. by Penley Corporation. PO Box 277, West Paris, Maine 04289 Made in India.

When the matches are stroke against the box to light them, the lighted match’s head detaches and flyes in different directions. Often times, it hits the face of the person lighting it. The dangerous incident happened to my sister. The lighted match’s head detached and hit and burned her upper eyelid as she closed her eye. We thought this was a fluke, but later the same happened to me. Luckily, the match’s head went out before it reached my face. As we continue using them, we realized that most of the time the match’s head detaches and flies in different directions often times hitting bystanders.

This incident occurred in the kitchen of a home in Tijuana BC Mexico, border with San Diego CA where we purchased this dangerous product. My name is [REDACTED]. I am 38 years old and I authorize you to include my report in the database.
