  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 31, 2011, sent to the company Oct 24, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 7, 2011

The product, in the report: Wood stick matches (250 count per box) 3-boxes to a package

The adult consumer was striking one of the wooden matches, when the stem snapped just as the match ignited. The match head landed on her 100% polyester shirt. The consumer’s shirt sustained a couple of burn holes. She said that the incident occurred so fast that she is not exactly sure how the incident happened. As she felt the heat on her shirt, she attempted to pull it way and the match may have continued to tumble down at that point.

The consumer is not sure, but she believes that she may have caught the match on the shirt.

Fortunately, the consumer did not sustain any burns.

(8/31/11) The consumer called the brand name company listed in the mfr. section of this report. The consumer spoke with a rep. named [REDACTED] (last name unknown) and he indicated that he would report this to the buyer and a higher authority in his company.
