The product, in the report: Holiday decoration lights (Barcode: 7 64878 66006 2; Other Number from UPC box: 051 04 2869 ID202437-0037; Model No. ESD-100/2F(0.2); E149249)
Sections of three of seven sets of holiday decoration lights (Barcode: 7 64878 66006 2; Other Number from UPC box: 051 04 2869 ID202437-0037; Model No. ESD-100/2F(0.2); E149249) shorted out from normal use (four were placed on a Christmas tree and three were placed on pillars). When the cause of the short was investigated, it was discovered that each of the shorts were caused by copper wires that had come out of their sockets. This resulted in live bare wires being exposed in the vicinity of children. No injuries were caused since all of the lights were unplugged once the cause of the first short was discovered, but this posed a clear risk of electric shock. The lights are distributed by Target Corporation, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403 and were made in Indonesia.

No one hurt Made Dec 6, 2011, sent to the company Dec 14, 2011, published by CPSC Dec 29, 2011
The product, in the report: Christmas tree lights, opaque multi-colored, globe-shaped, size of large gumball. Box of 25 lights, one strand = 25 feet long.
I bought several sets of Christmas tree lights at Target that started to burn the tree’s needles after being lit for less than an hour. The tree is fresh, has no dropping or brown needles, and the branches & needles still bend. The light bulbs are the size of a large gumball; they became very hot within 15 minutes and after 45 minutes, the needles that came in contact with the bulbs started turning brown and crisp.
