I received a used pre-lit fiber optic Christmas tree from a friend. Whenever the unit is turned on the base plate loosens and falls to the floor completely exposing the electrical connections, which poses a potential electrical hazard. The base plate is partially melted near the halogen bulb, which makes it difficult to engage the base plate securely.
