The product, in the report: Montessori Felt Christmas Tree for Toddlers, 2026 New Upgraded Oversized DIY Door Wall Hanging Xmas Gifts Christmas Decorations It is a felt Christmas tree that is about 3ft high, but the issue is the very cheaply made string lights. I assume these string lights were purchased by other manufacturers and bundled with other products, but unfortunately the manufacturer of the lights is not clear.
An item from Amazon named “Montessori Felt Christmas Tree for Toddlers” included string lights to decorate the tree. The string lights are powered by a battery pack containing 3 AA batteries wired in series. Within 10 minutes of turning the string lights on the led bulb nearest to the battery pack caught on fire with visible flames and lots of smoke. If we were not sitting right next to the lights when the fire started, and were able to cut the power immediately, the open flame could have easily burned the house down! The lights are on a felt tree afterall. When reporting the issue to Amazon (who has taken no action yet) a customer had posted a picture review showing their lights also caught on fire, proving this is not an isolated issue with this product.
