The product, in the report: Aritificial Christmas tree
I purchased a GE Holiday Lights Christmas tree from Lowes. We purchased the Just Cut Aspen Fir with 700 LED lights which is model 01619 UPC 8-03993-1619-1. The tree is VERY heavy. When we put the tree into the stand that was provided, one of the legs of the stand broke off and the tree came crashing down. If our four year old daughter had been standing there it could have killed her. When we examined the stand, the leg was severed off.
We have owned a GE tree for the past 12 years. We began having issues with the lights on our previous tree so we decided to buy a new one. The stand that came with the last tree was much sturdier. The new stand was thin and flimsy.
I contacted the company and they seemed concerned. The person told me to send them a picture of the broken stand. She said she was going to forward it immediately to the President of the company who was in China meeting with the manufacturer. She promised to let me know what they were going to do. When I called them back they said it was up to their manufacturer in China.
This is an extreme hazard!
