  1. No one hurt

Made Sep 5, 2023, sent to the company Sep 7, 2023, published by CPSC Sep 21, 2023

The product, in the report: Kingsford utility lighter.

Was using a Kingsford light from a multipack. After I used it I set it on our countertop. And went about my business. When I came back about 20 minutes later i noticed the countertop discolored and smoking. Apparently there was a small flame remaining that I could not see. When I picked up the lighter and looked down the very hot end I could kind of see a very tiny blueish flame.

As I was lighting a candle, lighter started on fire. No injuries. I put it out by waving it vigorously. Could have set the tablecloth and room on fire.
