    The product, in the report: Thrive Desert self ballasted lamp 5314813 3U-23 Watt 0.265A E26 10%UV-B 30%UV-A 120V 60Hz

We were using a Thrive self ballasts lamp 5314813 3U-23 watt from Pets Mart when the product appeared to short and started to unsafely fail. My wife was luckily home when the product began “popping”, “sizzling”, and smoking from which she quickly unplugged the light before a catastrophic and destructive failure occurred within our house. I went to PetsMarts website to report the failure only to find multiple reviews with similar failures. I feel this report warrants an investigation before a truly catastrophic failure occurs in a customer’s home. We were using the product as intended in a CSA certified EXO Terra lap canopy and the bulb is a UL certified product. I do have pictures of the failed product and will hold on to the product if a further investigation is warranted.
