The product, in the report: Scripto Ultima Premium, Adjustable Flame Pocket Lighter, green color

I recently purchased a Scripto Ultima Premium lighter from Walmart. While attempting to light a cigarette, the flame suddenly flared up to an unusually high level after a few clicks. Fortunately, this did not happen when I had the lighter close to my face otherwise, it could have caused serious burns to my face or hair.

This was an extremely alarming and dangerous experience. Im genuinely concerned about the safety of this product

The product, in the report: Scripto cigarette lighter. Gray in color. Average lighter size.

Used a Scripto lighter to light a cigarette. Set the lighter down on the dresser and left the room. Thankfully my daughter in law went into the room a short time later. The lighter had a 4 to 5 inch flame. It burned a spot on the top of the dresser and melted a spot on the bottom of the TV. We live in a mobile home and they burn FAST. We could have lost everything including lives and pets. I am going back to using matches.

The product, in the report: Scripto stick-type cigarette lighter (Calico Brands, Inc., Ontario CA 91761

I recently purchased a 3-pack of Scripto stick-type lighters (Calico Brands, inc., Ontario CA 917610. Well, the buttons stick and sometimes the flame keeps burning after they’re set down. With one lighter, the flame went out but all of the flammable gas exhausted itself and I had to throw it away after only one day.

On Saturday, June 25, 2011, I had a couple over for an outdoor barbeque, and one of my friends used the Scripto lighter on the table to light a cigarette, and didn’t realize the button was stuck and it was still throwing a flame. We all went in the house, and unbeknownst to us, the tablecloth caught fire and severely scorched my antique wooden table, the value of which is (was) probably well over $500.00.

Here in New Mexico, forest fires are raging out of control; high winds, high temperatures and no rain! I live around horse ranches and hay barns. This could easily have started a neighborhood fire, I live in Santa Fe, right next to the big Pacheco fire currently in progress.

Two of the lighters have the code JX 11 2, and the third is JX 09. I believe this problem with the lighters has to do with the childproof feature, which, any three-year old could figure out. This needs to be made public knowledge before someone inadvertently starts a house fire or a forest fire.
