The product, in the report: MK Translucent Disposable Lighter (Purple)

The consumer wanted to illustrate some of her concerns about a disposable lighter ruptured while it sat in the consumer’s car, over a span of 2 hours. The consumer stated that the lighters is nearly about 3 inches in length and a quarter inch wide; translucent purple in color. The consumer left the lighter on the front passenger seat of her car, with most of the windows closed while she was in class. The consumer stated that the average high temperature for that day was in the lower 80’s.The consumer came to her vehicle and discovered and odd substance on her entertainment console.

The consumer cleaned the substance and later realized that it came from the lighter. The consumer drew the conclusion that the heat and pressure of the inside of the vehicle caused the inner contents of the lighter erupt and sent the metal piece of the lighter with flint to project in the backseat of her full-sized minivan. The consumer cleaned the material and no one suffered any adverse effects. The consumer has not called the retailer or the manufacturer.

The product, in the report: Green Plastic MK Flint Lighter

02/09/2012 16:15:56 [REDACTED] Your Message: My MK Flint lighter blew up in my pocket this morning. I was at work in the Career Center with my hand in my pocket when I heard a very loud pop and felt a very cold, damp sensation on my hand. At most, I may have been jiggling my keys slightly. It took a few seconds to realize what had happened. Other than a few scratches from plastic splinters and the sensation of a frost burn on the back of my fingers, I am fine and was lucky the gas did not ignite. The lighter was approximately half full. I will save the pieces if you need them.

This happened about 10am PST. I wasn’t using lighter, it was in my pocket with my hand, keys, coins, [REDACTED].
