  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Sep 15, 2026, sent to the company Sep 18, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 3, 2026

The product, in the report: BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Mini, 3D Mesh, light gray, soft infant carrier, article 021002-US, made in Vietnam, ASTM F2236 marking

My baby was approximately 4 months old at the time of the incident, she weighed 13 lb 8.9 oz and measured 23.23 inches

She was using a BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Mini, article 021002-US, manufacturing code 2022-11-GM, number 579249

The carrier height setting was adjusted to approximately 23 inches, the small leg safety straps were not fastened because she weighed more than 10 lb

She was wearing a lightweight cotton bodysuit and a normally fitted Pampers size 3 diaper, there was no tight or bulky clothing around her legs or groin

We were walking at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and she had been in the carrier for more than 30 minutes, she was facing outward and had good independent head control, the carrier was secured firmly against my body and was not loose or sliding

A photo taken at approximately 4 15 PM while she was still inside the carrier shows that one of her feet had already begun becoming visibly darker and more purple than the other foot, neither I nor the person taking the photo noticed the discoloration at that time

She later became increasingly uncomfortable and began fussing, when we removed her from the carrier her foot was significantly more purple up to approximately the ankle and redness extended upward along her leg almost to the knee

After removing the carrier we also observed a pronounced pressure mark in the front and inner groin area where the lower portion of the carrier had been supporting her body

We immediately removed all pressure and massaged her foot and leg, the color gradually began returning toward normal

A second photo taken at approximately 4 35 PM shows her foot after she had been removed from the carrier and after the discoloration had already improved considerably

She had shown discomfort during previous short uses of this carrier including while facing inward, but we had previously believed that she simply did not like being carried in it

We have stopped using the carrier

We are concerned that the lower seat or leg opening area may have created excessive pressure in the groin or upper thigh area and may have restricted circulation to her leg

The carrier does not appear to have an independent seat width adjustment to accommodate babies with different thigh sizes while remaining within the stated height and weight ranges

I have preserved the carrier and am willing to make it available for inspection or testing if requested
