Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 27, 2016, sent to the company Oct 5, 2016, published by CPSC Oct 20, 2016
The product, in the report: Safety first high chair in casablanca
I started noticing a few weeks ago that the high chair tray was hard to latch. I placed my one year old in it for dinner one night. Thinking I took the extra steps to latch the tray on to the chair. She pushed the tray out with minimal force and fell to the ground. Luckily she only had a minor bruise on her leg and arm. Two weeks went by and we thought it was just a rare situation and today it happen again. Luckily she did not fall out and I caught the situation right away.

No one hurt Made Apr 24, 2015, sent to the company May 4, 2015, published by CPSC May 18, 2015
The product, in the report: Safety First Highchair, brown wood, green/brown reversible pad.
I placed my son in one of the Safety First highchairs model HC144BZF a few weeks ago, secured him inside and slid the tray back and turned to get his food. When I turned around the tray was almost completely pushed out. My son almost fell, head first, onto the floor. The chairs have a defect in the design of the tray locking mechanism. The side handles when pulled out repeatedly, wear out the hinge and prevent it from locking tightly in place. The plastic teeth on the tray that fit into the side slots are also not long enough, so when the handles don’t secure down tightly, the teeth don’t fit into the slots far enough so the tray can easily be pushed out of place. This is obviously a safety concern on my part and we no longer use the highchair because I am afraid that my babies may fall out of them due to this defect. Replacing the tray will not remedy the defect in the design of the tray. I am extremely disappointed that Safety First only offered to replace the tray for 25$ plus shipping. They did not seem concerned about the potential hazard the highchair poses to other unsuspecting children.

First aid Made Jan 28, 2013, sent to the company Feb 5, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 20, 2013
The product, in the report: Safety First High Chair
We have multiple young children and therefore have several highchairs of the same model and have had multiple safety incidents with this model among the various chairs. They are Safety First high chairs model HC051 (Manufacture date 9/2009). The waist clasp on this model can result in significant pinching of hands or fingers resulting in pain, redness, bruising, or even removal of skin. It has happened to myself, my husband, and a grandparent on multiple occasions, and now that our children are no longer infants but toddlers, on two occasions (including today), one of our toddlers was playing with the clasp and got his skin severely pinched and caught in the clasp until I could dislodge the unit and release his skin. We’ll be throwing these chairs in the garbage as they are anything but “Safety First”. It is also critical to note that these chairs are designed to have shoulder straps (in the hard back of the chair) and say they are appropriate for infants, however, no shoulder straps are ever included in these models and there are no slots to allow shoulder straps in the chair covers for this model. Therefore, younger children/infants could fall out the side of the chair as there is only a minimal adjustment of the waist straps. Because we knew from the beginning how unsafe these “Safety First” high chairs were, were always used [REDACTED] highchairs for feeding our infants and used these for supervised specific purposes for medical reasons with our one son (who has a feeding tube) because of its size and reclining ability. However, this is a very dangerous product for the general market. Please make the manufacturer address these safety issues to protect young children! Thank you!
