  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 24, 2026, sent to the company Apr 29, 2026, published by CPSC May 13, 2026

The product, in the report: It is a childrens high chair. pbk x Maxi Cosi Exclusive 6-in-1 Minla Adjustable High Chair in the color Wheaton Stripe. DIMENSIONS: Overall: 22.5 wide x 34 deep x 42 Distance from floor to bottom of highchair: 12.5 minimum 20 maximum Weight: 24.5 lbs

The item is the Maxi-Cosi, 6-in-1 Minla Adjustable High Chair for babies/children. I had my 4 month old daughter in the high chair as I was feeding her and all of a sudden I hear a popping sound. The metal spring and round plastic cap on the side button flew off and flung across the room, about 2 feet away from where my daughter would normally be laying and playing. I have reached out and there does not seem any urgency on how dangerous this is and how catastrophic this could’ve been had my daughter been anywhere else other than the chair itself. The metal spring itself could’ve taken out an eye.

  2. Hurt, no treatment

The product, in the report: Maxi-Cosi, Minla 6-In-1 High Chair, Classic Graphite - EcoCare.

I’m reporting a serious safety concern involving a Maxi-Cosi Minla 6-in-1 High Chair (Model HC258HCR, Date Code 2024-01-12 RO-b). While using the chair in its standard high-chair configuration at the highest height setting, the entire top portion of the seat suddenly detached and tipped forward off the base, even though my baby was securely strapped in.

The high chair had never been altered or misused. We’ve only disassembled it a few times for cleaning (around three to five times total) since receiving it as a baby shower gift in May 2024. It was assembled correctly and placed on a flat, even kitchen floor at the time of the incident.

My husband and I were standing about five feet away, reading mail at the counter, when the chair unexpectedly gave way. Our son hit his head and nose as the chair tipped over, though the tray and harness kept him strapped in and prevented a more serious fall. He cried immediately, but thankfully, did not appear to suffer significant injuries. Still, it was terrifying, and it could have easily ended much worse.

After contacting Maxi-Cosis’s customer care line on November 4, 2025, I spoke with a representative from their ITA department. She confirmed that this type of hinge or locking failure is rare, apologized sincerely, and offered several options: a replacement chair, a different Maxi-Cosi product, or a full refund. We have chosen to receive a replacement, which is being shipped to us. We will return the defective chair for inspection once it arrives.

I’m filing this report because a product designed for infants should never fail in a way that causes a complete tip or detachment while a child is secured in the seat. Even though our son wasn’t seriously hurt, the situation posed a clear and dangerous safety risk that needs to be investigated to prevent it from happening to another family.

  3. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jan 6, 2024, sent to the company Jan 10, 2024, published by CPSC Jan 26, 2024

The product, in the report: Maxi Cosi Moa Model HC272FJA an 8-in-1 high chair that turns into a dining booster seat when no longer a high chair and 7 other options.

The Maxi-Cosi MOA high chair has a detachable base that’s locked onto the legs by a small piece of plastic. This piece of plastic arrived snapped off, which would have caused my baby to fall with the strapped base onto the ground.
