Made May 13, 2025, sent to the company May 15, 2025, published by CPSC May 30, 2025

The product, in the report: Product Information: Product Name: Chicco ZEST 4-in-1 Multi-Use Folding Highchair UPC: 00 087108 930070 SUI#: 0502400738 Date of Manufacture: April 17, 2024 Model Code: 52387 Location of Purchase: Walmart, Jacksonville FL Date of Purchase: Approximate AUG-05-2024 Country of Purchase: United States

On May 5, 2025, while my two-year-old daughter was securely fastened in the Chicco ZEST 4-in-1 Multi-Use Folding Highchair, the right leg of the chair suddenly broke without warning. The chair collapsed instantly, causing my daughter to fall to the ground. I was standing right next to her and witnessed the entire event but could not react in time to prevent her fall.

My daughter, who weighs only 27 pounds (well below the chairs listed weight limit of 60 pounds), sustained visible bruising and is suspected to have a fracture in her right foot. We spent the evening seeking urgent medical care and consultations, resulting in significant medical expenses. The emotional trauma from this experience has been considerable, and my daughter remains distressed by what happened.

    Product Use Details:

The highchair was assembled according to the manufacturers instructions. The child was properly secured with the provided safety harness. The product was less than one year old and appeared to be in good condition prior to the incident. The environment was stable and flat when the failure occurred. Injury Details:

Injured Person: Child (2 years old) Injuries Sustained: Suspected foot fracture, bruising on the leg Medical Attention Required: Yes seen by multiple doctors, including imaging diagnostics Emotional Impact: Child is traumatized and fearful of highchairs and similar seating

The product, in the report: Chicco FastLock 360 Rotating Hook-On High Chair, Portable High Chair

9 month old baby fell out of High chair while buckled in tightly after turning my back for less than a minute. Many other Amazon reviews describe the same issue with babies falling out at this age once they learn how to stand up and twist themselves out of the restraint. There is no way to tighten the bottom strap that goes between their legs only the straps that go around their tummy will adjust.

So I bought a high chair from BUYBUY BABY April 2020 5 months ago. I notice one side had a grey thing to push up to release it and hold it. Haven’t used the item that much and I noticed both sides that those grey push buttons are missing and if you try to push from the back the highchair will just colapise and fall over. So after paying Over $100 for this and to scared to put my 8 month old in it. How can they sell an item that isn’t safe is it just my item or has other people had this same issue

The product, in the report: chicco polly magic high chair - solare

I was cleaning the high chair and found black mold growing on the underside of the cover. There is no protection from water on the underside of this cover so it easily absorbs spills and does not dry, causing mold to easily grow, even if left to dry upside down. It is stated on the tag that you may only use a damp cloth to clean this highchair.

The product, in the report: High-Chair (seat bottom approximately three feet from the ground)

11/24/2014 The consumer’s fifteen-month-old, twenty-two-pound son was in his high-chair eating dinner when all of a sudden the chair collapsed to the floor. The consumer indicates that the child was moving back and forth, although not enough to cause the fall. The baby fell on top of the chair, thus sustaining no injuries. Both chair legs snapped in half. The consumer estimates that the seat bottom of the high-chair was three feet from the ground.

The consumer states that she is thankful that the high-chair was well-cushioned and broke her son’s fall. The consumer indicates that her son used his high-chair on a daily basis, three times a day, for between fifteen to thirty minutes.

06/15/2012 (Approximate) The consumer purchased a new vinyl covering for the high-chair from the manufacturer to replace the previous one which showed tear and wear.

11/24/2014 The consumer contacted the manufacturer by e-mail, describing what happened and also annexing pictures of the chair. The consumer has not yet received any e-mails.

11/25/2014 The consumer contacted the manufacturer by phone and explained to a representative what happened. The representative informed her that they would look into the matter and get back to the consumer.

The consumer believes that the chair may have been deteriorating over time but she had no physical evidence of the fact and thus continued normal use.

The consumer indicates that her high-chair is out of warranty but wants the manufacturer to know that even though her unit is old, it collapsed and they may want to look into the matter. The consumer has no injuries to report. The consumer believes this product poses a safety and fall hazard.

My infant once at age 5 months and once at at 6 months has fallen out of his high chair due to the locking pegs not engaging properly. The high chair was given to me as a gift in May of 2010. It is a Chicco. My now 2 year old son used it without incident. We started placing my younger son in it 2 months ago. The pegs began to fail because they would not properly engage into the hole when slide forward. We would try and be extra careful and just make sure they engaged properly but on two seperate incidents my older daughter placed my son in the high chair and did not make sure the tray was secure and he fell out. I realize we should be buckling him in but that also was overlooked.

We own a Chicco highchair. Sometime between January and March of 2012 my daughter fell and scraped her back on the pegs on the back legs of the highchair. She had a 4-5 inch cut on her back and still has a scar. I was unaware of the recall on this product for this exact reason until the end of August 2012.

I am prompted to write this report based on the recent recall of the Chicco Polly High Chair. Last summer our daughter, [REDACTED], had an accident with those very pegs on the hind legs of the high chair. She tripped and fell over the back leg of the high chair and fell right into one of the pegs. The peg hit her in her chest almost at her neck, in between her collar bones. It left quite a surface scrape and bruise across her chest. She did not require medical attention for this accident. At the time, I do remember thinking, why are those pegs even there. I had no idea they were a place to put the tray until I read the recall.

Here are the details of our Chicco Polly High Chair: Code: 06 063803 970 070 PO #4900022670 Date - 11122006 Serial #0743
