    Legs disconnected on bugaboo highchair a few times. One time, my baby was in the chair, but we caught him before hitting the floor. The legs easily disconnect when pulling the child out of the chair since they have to enter and exit it straight legged

    Im submitting a report regarding a serious safety incident involving the Bugaboo Giraffe high chair, which I purchased for my infant son, born March 2024.

    While he was properly strapped into the chair and eating, the entire seat suddenly collapsed forward without warning. The top half of the legs separated from the bottom, causing the whole structure to give out. Because he was securely restrained, he had no ability to catch himself and fell forward with the chair still attached to him.

    It was an extremely distressing moment to witnesshe could have been seriously injured. Thankfully, he appears to be okay, but this incident highlighted a major structural failure in a product intended for very young children.

    This is a premium, well-known brand, and I trusted that the product met high safety standards. The fact that it failed in this way raises serious concerns not only for my own child but for the safety of others using this same model.

    Im reporting this in the hope that it will be investigated and addressed appropriately before another child is potentially harmed.

    While seated in the Bugaboo Giraffe high chair at the dining table, my son experienced a fall when the chair collapsed. It appears that the screws connecting the legs to the frame had loosened, causing the bottom segment to detach from the top. As a result, he sustained minor injuries to his lip, head, arm, and leg due to the fall and subsequent impact with the dining table.

    I’m reporting my child’s high chair because it doesn’t stay assembled. It is a Bugaboo Giraffe that also comes with an infant seat and rocker base. My husband and I are using this product with our child. The chair was used from infancy with the separate infant insert as well as ongoing as a “regular” high chair now that the infant seat has been outgrown and removed. My concern is that the chair collapses easily because the screws are too short. Bugaboo claims that the problem is with the consumer not tightening the screws enough, but in my experience this isn’t a consumer error. It is impossible to tighten the screws sufficiently to keep the chair intact. At the moment, Bugaboo is unresponsive to sending a repair kit and has not reached out to me despite having my information from the warranty card and this being a known issue with the items.

    Our daughter was in her high chair eating. She was properly strapped in when all of a sudden the front legs gave out. The chair flung forward and pressed her cheek into the table. She was unable to move because her face was holding the weight of the entire chair. Fortunately I was right there and was able to pull her out.

    My son, who is 19 months and 25 lbs, was sitting in his Bugaboo Giraffe high chair, appropriately strapped in, when the top of the chair became disconnected from the legs as he pushed down with his feet on the foot rest. This resulted in the front two legs becoming disconnected from the legs, causing him to fall forward while still strapped in the chair. He hit the front of his head on our table, resulting in a hematoma to his frontal scalp, and landing on the floor, resulting in a laceration to the inside of his lower lip and several minor abrasions to his chin.

    I am writing to report a critical safety issue with the Bugaboo high chair I purchased from you a few months ago. I recently discovered that the front screw is dangerously loose and fails to secure properly, even after tightening. Shockingly, Im able to detach the front section with minimal effort despite the screw being in place.

    This is completely unacceptable for a product intended for babies and toddlers. It poses a serious risk of injury or worse. I am extremely concerned that this defect was not caught during quality control and fear that other units may be putting more children at risk.

After being alerted by another high chair owner on [REDACTED] that their baby fell while strapped in from this high chair because of faulty screws, I went to check the screws on my own. One screw was almost ready to fall out, and two others were loose. My child could have also fallen had I not seen this other parent’s post.

    Dear Consumer Product Safety Commission,

    I am writing to report a serious safety issue involving the Bugaboo Giraffe High Chair, which I purchased approximately seven months ago. Over time, the screws began to loosen, and the high chair ultimately collapsed while my child was strapped in. Fortunately, my child was not seriously injured, but the incident could have had much more severe consequences.

    After researching online, I discovered that other parents have reported similar issues with this model. It appears the manufacturer is aware of the problem, and while there may be a solution, it has not been widely advertised or made readily available. Only a few consumers seem to have been notified, while many othersincluding myselfhave received no communication or offered remedy.

    Given that this product is intended for infants and toddlers, I believe it poses a significant safety risk and warrants immediate investigation.

    I would be happy to provide additional information, including photos, receipts, and details about the incident, if needed.

    My Daughter was buckled and sitting in high chair eating and bouncing. When the baby put her weight into her feet and leaned back, the bottom portion of the highchair disconnected and cause the highchair to collapse with my ten month old still attached. She When the bottom of the highchair disconnected, she fell forward and smacked her head on the dining room table. She has bruising around her eye and an ambulance had to be dispatched. She had lost consciousness for a few seconds. Paramedics examined her and did not feel the need for her to go to the ER.
