The product, in the report: Crib black slates in the front
On September 12, 2025, my infant daughters leg became trapped between the slats of a Graco crib. As a result, she suffered a severe wound on her leg that blistered and appeared burn-like. I have photographs documenting both the injury and the way her leg became stuck in the crib. The wound was painful, blistered, and required medical attention. This injury caused significant distress and pain to my child.

Description of the Product:
The Graco Benton 5-in-1 Convertible Crib is designed as a multipurpose crib that can be transformed into different types of beds for children. It is intended to be a long-lasting piece of furniture for a child’s room.
Nature of Complaint: Approximately 45 days after the purchase of the Graco Benton Convertible Crib, a persistent and strong paint-like smell has been noted. Despite efforts to ventilate the room and the product, the odor remains strong and overpowering. The intensity of the smell is such that it causes discomfort to adults, making it difficult to stay in the same room as the product for more than a few minutes.
Concerns: Health and Safety Risk: The strong paint-like smell suggests the possibility of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other potentially harmful chemicals being present. These substances can be particularly hazardous for young children, whose developing bodies are more susceptible to environmental toxins. Potential Non-compliance with Safety Standards: Given the nature of the product as a child’s crib, the presence of a strong chemical odor raises concerns about the compliance of the product with safety standards for children’s furniture, especially regarding non-toxic finishes and materials.
Actions Taken: The crib has been left in a well-ventilated room to air out since its assembly. Despite these measures, the strong odor persists.
Requested Actions: - Investigation into the Chemical Composition of the Paint/Finish: We request that Graco investigates the chemical composition of the paint or finish used on the Benton 5-in-1 Convertible Crib to ensure it is safe for children and complies with relevant safety standards. - Remedial Measures: If the product is found to be unsafe, we request immediate action to rectify the issue, which could include a recall, replacement, or refund. - Public Notification: We suggest that Graco inform consumers who have purchased this product about potential risks and the steps being taken to address the issue.

No one hurt Made Aug 22, 2023, sent to the company Sep 6, 2023, published by CPSC Sep 20, 2023
The product, in the report: Model name: Solano Crib and Changed W/ Drawer Model number: 04587-601-FT Manufacture date: 2022/4 White Crib with metal base Company: Graco
My 5 month old baby got his limbs stuck in between the slates of the Solano Crib and Changer Model #04587-601-FT. Luckily there was no serious injuries but this does not mean another future encounter will not cause serious injuries to my baby or another baby. I emailed the manufacturer about this issue and they said it was approved by your Consumer Product Safety Commission. Which I don’t understand how a product is considered “safe” for a baby who is also a normal weight and can fit his limbs between slates and get them twisted and hurt themselves. This is not a safe product at all and should not have been approved. This product needs to be reviewed as a safety hazard.

Hello, On 5/12/2023 we have purchased the Graco Hadley 5-in-1 Convertible Crib with Drawer (Pebble Gray) – GREENGUARD Gold Certified, Crib with Drawer Combo, Full-Size Nursery Storage Drawer, Converts to Toddler Bed, Daybed and Full-Size Bed from Amazon. The product was delivered on 5/14/2023 and upon opening the box we noticed a very strong chemical odor. Still, we decided to assemble the crib, in the hope that that odor would dissipate. 48 hours later the crib emanates the same strong chemical odor, strong enough to give adults a headache, after it was kept in a room with all windows opened.

No one hurt Made Feb 8, 2023, sent to the company Feb 13, 2023, published by CPSC Feb 28, 2023
The product, in the report: Graco Benton Convertible crib.
I purchased a graco branded (actually storkcraft crib in 2018/2019). After it broke more than a year after my complain they offered me a free replacement of a different crib which was the Graco Benton Convertible crib. It broke in exactly the same way where the wood near the bolts breaks off leaving sharp wood slivers on the floor. No one was hurt.

First aid Made Jul 15, 2021, sent to the company Aug 12, 2021, published by CPSC Aug 2, 2021
The product, in the report: Story convertible crib with drawer
I bought a crib less then 6 months ago and my son has woken up numerous times with his leg getting stuck. Last night was the worse. I had to pry the bars open using my foot while sitting on the floor. I thought I was going to have to call the fire department. This is not the first time and I feel worried to leave my son in this crib. I will be doing some research to find him a safer bed. But this shouldn’t be sold. I could go on about how loose it becomes and how often I have to go over and retighten any loose bolts. I understand it should be done periodically but it seems like the crib is having a hard time even staying together. The sides are always loose and wobbly.
