The product, in the report: Bright Starts Having A Ball Get Rollin’ Activity Table
My son was playing with Bright Starts Having A Ball Get Rollin’ Activity Table, we began to smell a burning plastic type smell. Unsure where it was coming from, we investigated and found that the switch panel and battery compartment were hot to the touch. We removed the batteries, they were too hot to touch and had to be removed with a towel. After we opened the batteries, the smell got a lot worse. Given the burning smell and temperature of the batteries, concerned over possible burn, fire, or chemical hazard.

The product, in the report: Bright Starts 5-in-1 Your Way Ball Play Pink Activity Gym
My 6 month old daughter pulled off the ribbon “mane” of a zebra toy in the Bright Starts 5-in-1 Your Way Ball Play Activity Gym in pink. She placed the ribbon in her mouth very quickly, but I was playing with her and was able to take the ribbon away without her choking on it. I notified Bright Starts and all they offered was a refund. This is not acceptable. If my 6 month old was able to pull a ribbon out of the toy so could another. The play gym comes in pink and yellow, only the pink has the zebra toy hanging from the top of the gym.

The product, in the report: Bright Starts spin n’ slide ball popper
Bright Starts spin n’ slide ball popper
My daughter who is 15 months old was playing with this toy today. When the ball is pushed up the chute she tried to grab the ball. Her finger accidentally went into the chute where the balls are coming out and got stuck. Because of the interior design the balls are unable to be pushed down the chute. Her finger was trapped and even with the power off the balls were unable to be pushed down in order to free her finger. Luckily we observed this happen and were able to get her help immediately. She did end up getting her finger scraped up and swollen but did not need medical attention.

The product, in the report: Bright Starts sweet safari bounce-a-round activity center
My 6 month baby was sitting in the Bright Starts sweet safari bounce-a-round activity center and my 5 year old bent over the palm tree which allowed the baby’s finger to get stuck in the crack and put a lot of pressure on the finger. It took us a minute to figure out how to get her finger out by pushing the tree in the opposite direction to remove the fingers. Luckily we were right there and able to remove the finger quickly but if the baby was left unattended it could have been worse.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jul 15, 2013, sent to the company Jul 23, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 6, 2013
The product, in the report: This is a play gym, it consists of a mat, 2 poles (4 when assembled) a few hanging toys, and one mirror. I am lacking information on this product because my husband removed the tag.
For about 2 months now my daughter has enjoyed playing on her bright starts sweet safari play mat. Now that she has more upper body strength though this has become a problem. While playing on it the other day my daughter grabbed a hold of one of the poles and managed to pull it just right and it came off the small cloth loop that holds it place I figured this was just kind of a one off and maybe it had come loose from being slid across the floor or etc. So a few days later she was playing on it again and once more she pulled one of the poles loose even though I checked them all before she got on and they were well secured. This time the pole smacked her right across the chest and she got hit in the face with one of the toys. It left a big mark across her chest/stomach. Needles to say it went in the garbage after that. I wanted to write to express my displeasure with this product and let you know that I do not think it is safe. The poles will easily pop out of their loops if the pole is pulled inward and slightly to the side. Since it is part of the mat my daughter loved playing with/chewing on the poles, and I think many children would. I think you need to look into the design of this product, and make the poles unable to come loose from the loops.
